The most important part of selling a product is targeting the right audience. If you get that right, success is pretty much just a matter of time.

So, I’d like to hear how you would figure out what product/service would appeal most to the profiles listed below—and then how you’d actually go about reaching them. These are three audience profiles I came up with, and in my opinion, each one gets a bit trickier to target than the last:

1. A wealthy boy who spends a lot of time on TikTok and Discord, and loves games like Minecraft, Roblox, and Fortnite. His parents are pretty permissive and will buy him almost anything just to keep him busy so they can focus on work.

2. A young woman (around 20–29) with a high-paying job, no kids, and no major responsibilities outside of work. She recently got out of a relationship, takes really good care of her appearance, and stays active on social media—even if she doesn’t have a huge following.

3. A young guy who works out regularly and only uses social media for his IT business. Most of his time goes into studying skills he can eventually make money from, like 3D printing or electronics. He just finished his engineering degree but hasn’t been able to land a job yet, so money’s tight. He also has a manufacturing-related side project in mind.

These profiles might not be super detailed, so feel free to expand on them if you want.

Take some pen and paper or open a notepad and analyze your ideal audience based on common chatacteristics: Demographics, psyhographics, buying behabiour, pain points, needs, desires... add whatever feels relevant to your goal.

Okay that's a fun challenge! For the wealthy TikTok gamer a high-end customized gaming PC or exclusive in-game skins would likely appeal. I'd reach him through targeted TikTok ads showing popular gaming influencers using the product and maybe Discord server partnerships offering exclusive deals. The young professional is prime for luxury self-care products maybe skincare or high-end workout gear. Influencer marketing on Instagram targeting her age demographic and interests plus retargeting ads based on browsing history would be effective. The engineering grad is tougher. He values practicality and ROI. Maybe 3D printing supplies or courses focused on specific in-demand skills would work. I'd try targeted ads on LinkedIn focusing on engineering and manufacturing groups and explore sponsoring relevant online forums or podcasts. His budget is a constraint so emphasizing long-term value is key.

Ask any AI. That’s what I do
Simple but effective, thanks for the tip.

That's the thing — I always try to do this, but many times I end up adding my own bias and preconceptions. I think I'm just overthinking it. Also, I try to make my ads as effective as possible since funds are somewhat tight, which is the reason for my obsession with knowing what would exactly appeal to them. I think the shock value is also a good strategy — when you challenge their core ideas, they feel more emotional and often engage more, which is what all social media platforms do nowadays. For example, in IG videos, you see those fitness influencers saying things like "fxxk your protein."

Clear and solid strategy thanks!!
