Atari founder Nolan Bushnell claimed that a stealth encryption chip called a TPM that is going on the motherboards of most of the computers that are coming out now, will "absolutely stop piracy of [PC] gameplay.

Yes, of course it will. Just like the encryption on DVD's was unbreakable and and they couldn't be copied. Oh, wait a minute, they CAN be copied. Besides I wouldn't BUY a mobo that had such a chip on it.

this is stupid and a waste of money. nothing is hack proof. its just some things can be hacked with ease while others take alot more skill and work. its only a matter of time until you see mod chips being sold on the internet to override this piracy chip...my dad always says locks and security systems are made for honest people. meaning if an honest person sees a locked door or security system, they respect it. but hackers and thieves will always find a way around any security system no matter what.

I loved Atari as a Kid.
I have seen its stellar rise and fiery crash.

My advice to the < 30 year old crowd, Atari is not where you want to be looking for the path technology will follow beyond a year or so.

Just as you said if someone says something can't be hacked and will stop piracy in its tracks then the people who like to hack and crack things will see that as a personal challenge to be the first to find a workaround. Next thing you know there's a program that spoofs the unique id of that hardware.
