Most useful Google search operator strings for SEO

I have come across some interesting Google Search Operators strings in my SEO journey, many of which I learn from here. So, I thought, why not create a thread where we can all post these to help each other?

My favourite of these is "Competitor.com" -site:competitor.com shoutout to @PHPInjected for that.

This string was mentioned in his guide on black hat SEO.

You can make variations of this string to find backlinks of a specific type.

Like adding inurl: Profile to the existing string: "Competitor.com" -site:competitor.com inurl: Profile
(There is no space between inurl: and Profile. The text editor was reading it as an emoji, so I added a space.)

shows all the indexed profile backlinks of your competitors.

Other useful variations for this string can be:

1. "Competitor.com" -site:competitor.com inurl:Forum
2. "Competitor.com" -site:competitor.com inurl:listing
3. "Competitor.com" -site:competitor.com inurl:bookmark

There are other strings like:

• site:yourdomain.com -inurl:https OR -inurl:www
  • This can show you all the indexed non-HTTPS or www versions of your website.
• "your keyword" inurl:forum OR inurl:board
  • This string allows you to find niche-related communities and forums for backlink opportunities
• "systoolsgroup.com" -site:systoolsgroup.com intext:article
  
  • This one shows all of the article backlinks of your competitors

Here’s my own operator to check what people are saying on Reddit about a competitor:

"Competitor.com" intitle:reddit

Another One:

site:moz.com filetype: pdf

It shows all the specific file types that are indexed on Google. In the above example, it only indicates PDFs from one particular source(i.e moz) that are indexed. Using this, you will see that Moz has different guides and checklists indexed that are pretty useful in .pdf format. Use "Guide" or "checklist" with the current string like (site:moz.com filetype: pdf "Guide") to get useful guides and resources.

Extra Tip: Replace Moz.com with ahref.com, semrush.com and others as well.

You can use the same string with filetype:jpg, png, webp to find different format images on your website. (In Google Image Tab).

You can use this to find Guest post websites in your niche. Replace niche keyword in the begining with your niche.

Current string will shows all the website in freelancing niche that accept guest contributions.

you can add intext:free or intitle:free to search for free ones.
