Videos longer than 1 hour looping content

Is there a advantage to posting 1-8 hour videos that may loop the same content over and over? I am noticing this on men of culture type content? What is the advantage of them doing this and are they hiding things that would be censored otherwise in the vast depth of the link of the video? Space Nasa or space discovery videos tend to do this as well.

And yes, longer videos generally have a better chance of being suggested because they keep viewers on the platform longer which means more ad revenue for YouTube.

if you click through the entire 4-8 hour video, it just replays itself over and over without fresh content.

What about the VoiceOver? does it say something different each time?

Some creators loop the visuals but keep the voiceover engaging, like telling a story. As @bonzo90 mentioned, it's often designed for people who are falling asleep or driving.

They treat it more like a podcast or audiobook experience.

Nah, I understand what your getting at. This is just a loop and no one would watch it for sleeping. Could be more link the backlinks no one wants that hit websites of recent where they are just spamming long content because they seen others do it.

Longer videos means higher cpms/rpms , you can earn better. Basically youtube suggests longer videos in it's browse features because youtube wants viewers to treat this like a television, like someone said earlier youtube wants it viewers to stay longer in the platform.

However we would suggest not to loop any video instead create new content somewhere between 30mins - 1 hour.
