Charging back cc purchase on FW?

I really didn't get a good chance to use the software, and it still currently works, but I highly doubt we will get the promised lifetime updates.

Spud seems like a cool guy but like fb will probably just take the money anyways.

From a software developers point of view, you never want people to charge back especially whilst the product you have given to them is still working.

However, in this case (I'm not too familiar with it) it might be reasonable as he might have had things which he stated.

Furthermore, lets face it. You never really get what you buy.
You have a 48 month subscription to a magazine, after 12 months it goes out of business. You will never get the remaining 36 months of magazines or the money back simply because in business the first job is to pay back the people owed the most.
You're probably owed say $100, whereas other stakeholders have put thousands and thousands of dollars into the business, by the time they're paid back there wont be enough money to pay you back.

Just trying to put it into perspective, if anyone thought I was having a go, sorry I'm not.

sound like a greedy move by you... You sound like you do charge backs on a regular basis...

I've never done one before in my life.

Nor do I even need the money now.

Main point: fb will get it. even in just their c&d letters they demand the defendant forfeit all gains as a result of activities.


Overall,

I'll choose to wait until it starts to stop working due to lack of updates. Maybe he can pull this around and at least start to make updates for it again, but who knows. That sounds fair to me.

I am assuming here that you plan on charging back 100% of the amount paid as opposed to a "prorated" amount for the lack of "lifetime" updates?

Lifetime updates means for the lifetime of the software, not your natural life span. This is the accepted norm in such matters.

Doing a charge back is a crappy thing to do IMO, spuds not to blame for his situation.

Its tough luck all round.

honestly, i don't see why as a community we can't keep the software updated. obviously, spud's hands are tied right now, but there is a great group of minds here when it comes to programming.

whether "sued" or not; there had to at least be a cease and desist... otherwise there is no way it would be gone now..

I was making a killing selling fw, so spud definitely was making more bank than most people- and there is no other reason it would have stopped.
