Hey BHW Fam,

Just wanted to give a quick update after my previous post where I shared that I was suddenly banned from multiple subreddits by Reddit's bot detection system.

What happened next:
I filed an appeal through /r/BotBouncer explaining the situation. Within 24 hours, they reviewed my account and confirmed it was wrongly flagged as a bot.

✅ My appeal was granted, and all bans were lifted automatically within 10 minutes of their message.

⚠️ Important tip from BotBouncer:
They advised not to post or comment right away in the subreddits you were banned from at least wait a few hours. Reddit's ban system is sensitive and might trigger false positives again.

Lessons Learned:

  • Reddit’s system can wrongly flag even organic-looking accounts.
  • Always appeal calmly and clearly. they do review it.
  • Give the account some breathing room before jumping back in.

If anyone’s dealing with the same thing, don’t panic. Submit your appeal and be patient.

Let me know if you’ve faced something similar or have extra tips!

Nice! Thanks for sharing this update—super helpful! I’ve been extra cautious on Reddit lately and was wondering what to do if a flag ever happens. Good to know the appeal process actually works lol.

Yeah, I didn't expect the appeal to go through so easily either.

Reddit’s AI moderation feels like walking on eggshells these days.

BotBouncer seems to be a Devvit bot created by the community rather than Reddit's official scanning method, so your unban is likely due to BotBouncer itself or the subreddit mod's settings for that bot being too strict, leading to false positives. This experience can't be applied to Reddit's overall filtering system.

Thanks for the update anyway.

I wasn't fully sure if it was Reddit-wide or just the sub's bot acting up. Either way, glad it got resolved.

Totally agree. One wrong move and your post disappears without warning. It's getting harder to tell what's allowed and what's not.

I'm glad that your ban was reversed. On a side note, you can use multi-quote feature to respond to multiple comments at once like this:

I thought it used some kind of AI.

Just click "+Quote" button on all comments and then add these quotes to your response.
