Why when I use API I get bad results?

When I try to write with chatgpt the result is ok and thta's what I want but when I try to use the API I get bad results even when Im using the same prompt?
is it just me who don't know how to deal with API or it's like that?

Are you setting temperature properly? Are you selecting correct model? Is the article about anything newer than Oct 2023? because api don't have access to internet.

Grok ai api is the one I know can access internet.

We have been using Grok 3 ever since the live search feature was released. No experience with Perplexity. I just know that their Sonar model has always had internet access.

It's expensive, each article costs me 30 cents or something.
 
The Chatgpt web includes hidden system prompts and internal optimizations that produces more refined responses. These are not present by default when you use the API
