To grow your subscribers and views, focus on shorts videos..you will have a way quicker blow up than uploading long form videos..however If your focusing on gradual slow growth but much higher earning potential focus on long form content.

Analyze your ctr and retention rates to understand whether your videos are hitting those minimum standards to blow up.

You should find niche which has "low competition"

After that you should make "professional video content, professional and SEO friendly description, title, thumbnail"

Only quality unique content works now. All other suggestions like tags and all are bogus without correct type of content.

Starting from ground up is gonna be hard anywhere. You'll want to get an early handle on discoverability and watch retention because of it. That said, actually doing it is the hard part.
Some of the things that work are search-driven content, your "how to's", reviews, reactions (might not be effective for new Youtubers, especially if you weren't already known). Keywords and a good title still plays quite a part. Consistent posts (doesn't mean daily) is also rewarded, and going a long time without an upload is deeply punished. For a while, thumbnails became a particular point of focus too, and I think that still very much applies especially if you're starting out. Could either make it unique like it's own brand of your content or go with the rest and hope it gets picked up by the wave. Prefer the former though.
On that note, I don't recommend going for fast trends without a niche. Views and watchtime are better than likes, comments, subscriptions (not to say you ignore those, of course) so plan and prio accordingly.
Retentions is particularly important since Youtube will push content with better retention that ones where people click out early into the video. Also, optimise your metadata prior to uploads. Goes a long way.

First, you have to determine the main topic of the channel, what topic do you want to do, then produce content that users will be interested in about that topic, you can also make shorts.
