I see very little in this forum about TikTok advertising. Bearing in mind the success of BookTok, it's obviously a great place to sell a certain type of fiction to a certain demographic. It's stats for US women between 25 and 55 are great. It used to be you could target them on Facebook. But now that FB has compulsory AI, if you make 'number of links' the goal (which I have to do because I'm sending them to Amazon), it will show the ads to over 65s because they click on anything.

So TikTok has the demographic I want, but I don't know the platform. Authors posting videos BookTok can clean up. But to do that you need to be young, female, and preferably cute. The book I have to promote is written by an author who is none of those things. So having him post videos on TikTok will be a disaster. This leads me to advertising. Anyone here ever advertised books on TikTok? I'm thinking of creating an account and just blundering through. But if anyone here has any pearls of wisdom to offer me a be very grateful.

Thanks for this. I'd never heard of Billo. That looks really interesting for what I need. I'm sure your 'organic' advice is correct. I'll take it step-by-step and see where it all leads.

Yeah, TikTok ads can def work if you hit the right vibe. You don’t need the author on camera just make short, catchy vids with strong hooks, maybe use voiceover or trending sounds. Focus on emotion or intrigue from the book. You can even hire UGC creators to act it out a bit. Test small, see what hits. TikTok’s a diff beast, but the right ad can blow up.
