my second post here. I’m in a bit of a bind with my new website, I published 3 paid guest posts this week, no free backlink. Are free backlinks still useful? I know .edu/.gov links aren’t what they used to be, anyone actually gotten juice from these recently? should I chase free links or just buy guest posts?

Alot of more information would be needed to help you:

- How old is the website?
- Is it indexed in Google?
- Are you getting impressions in Search Console?
- When you say "I published 3 paid guest posts this week", do you mean that you have acquired backlinks to your site?

Regarding your questions:

- Without even seeing the actual domains, "free backlinks" does not sound like anything you should focus your time on.
- Regarding .edu/.gov links, it all depends. If you are getting genuine backlinks from a site, sure. If you are buying links from someone who has managed to get a blog/subdomain/has hacked an .edu/.gov site and is spamming it with outgoing links, no.
