I am wondering, with a bought ads account, would one have any issues launching an ad for a VPN?

Is it considered a BH/GH niche? or I should be fine to just run my ad with all keywords and ramp up spend slowly?

Yeah bro, if the ad is already warming up and getting decent delivery, you can pivot it slowly.but do it smart. Don’t just swap in the VPN offer overnight. Meta and Google both clock sudden changes fast, especially if it touches gray areas like VPN.


Start by tweaking the landing page copy gradually toward the VPN theme, while still keeping things broad and “safe” at first (like general privacy, digital safety, etc.). Then over time, shift the keywords and creatives to align more directly.


Also don’t touch the URL too early. If you must change it, test it in a new ad set first and watch how the system reacts. Big URL switches too fast = red flags.


Basically, yeah, it’s doable . BUTtreat it like defusing a bomb. Slow, steady, and low-key. If you’ve got access to a cleaner or agency account, use it as a buffer too. Way less stress.

If this is a white VPN ad - like a simple vpn, then no. You dont have any worry to have. But be careful because sometimes they may not be that lenient, especially on google.

depends on how you present the offer too. Like saying “unblock Netflix for free” or “100% anonymous browsing guaranteed” = false claims = BH, so in that case cloaking is required.

Or VPN for Rotating IPs, proxies, bot activity, quite risky as well.

Anyway anything is doable, even if BH, but in which case you have got to cloak your ads properly.

I’m currently running a VPN campaign targeting specific regions on Google, using high-intent purchase keywords rather than gray-area ones. The landing page was designed by myself using Grok. So far, the clicks are limited and there haven’t been any conversions yet. I plan to add more keywords or increase the CPC bids later on to drive more traffic and see how things develop.

I uploaded some dummy software for testing while I ramp up the spend, for some reason, my site was marked as being compromised & malware but the software was literally white, it did not launch anything but it was not a malware (just a dummy launcher).

any idea why and how I can avoid it next time?

Sadly Google is becoming stricter everyday and even for WH products sometimes cloaking is required.
