if i submit 1 article to 250 article directories, is that duplicate content??
how many directories should i submit an article to?

yes, all of them will be duplicate content and only one will get indexed (most likely)

It will be duplicate content... But still it doesn't mean it will not get indexed... When you submit any press release or articles in article directory those are scraped by thousands of other sites which returns you links...

If not indexing was problem then there would be no auto blogs because all of them are duplicate content... Although you will get more benefit using unique content but still same content will get you some value not totally waste or just giving 1 link...

o ok. i didnt know that if say i submit an article to ezine articles that it gets picked up by hundreds of sites. thanks!

I don't totally agree. It IS duplicate content but I do not believe in a duplicate content penalty. Getting them all indexed is a problem, because they are usually on crap sites and have no backlinks. I've seen all 10 listings on the first page exactly the same content. After I get home from my sons tennis lesson I'll see if I can find you an example.

It would have to be a pretty good article to be picked up by hundreds of sites. Here's my tip of the day. After submitting to ezine, set a google alert on the title. When you see your article picked up on a legitimate blog, send an email to the webmaster and offer him a UNIQUE article. Develop relationships with the right bloggers and you'll have them asking YOU for your articles.

Google: funny out of office email replies

MOST of them are the same exact list, all on different sites, all indexed.

I agree with you. It is considered duplicate content but I personally don't believe in the duplicate content penalty either.

Very good tip right there. But if you are doing volume it's hard to
keep up and most of them pick up the articles automatically and
it's hard to get a hold of them

Yea. Get The Best Spinner or Magic Article Rewriter, and spin your articles first.

Incredible tip. Tip of the month, maybe tip of the decade or maybe one for millenium. The bad thing is that, you will be about 150 years old while setting alerts, following links, developing relations.

Anyway life is soooooooooooo long.:)
