So did you use a pre-made template? Also what payment processor did you use? Is there a minimum of itrader the buyer must have to purchase your site?

I had actually sold a similar site about a year before and still had the files - so I replaced the old domain with the new domain

You can rip a site you like, use a simple theme, doesn't really matter - the point of the thread is the upsell more than the site itself.

The site accepted Paypal through e-junkie.

Due diligence is important - generally I try not to let it concern me unless I get some alarm bells from their emails. Genuine buyers with low itrader will generally tell you they are new etc. As a general rule of thumb, anything over 10 is good.

I like the idea of using a webhosting affiliate link, I've just sold a site and didn't get as much as I'd hoped for it but by getting them to sign up under my webhosting link then it made me a tidy profit.

Great way to make some money by upselling more products... You could probably upsell hosting if you wanted to be easy about it. Purchase a reseller on a discount from Host Gator (I think I got one for $30 for the year or so) with a couple gigs and a shit load of bandwidth. Then tell them they get a year of free hosting with the purchase of the site if they hit the BIN which is $100 or so. So you do this method 4 times a month (once a week) and make $400. End of the year you have made yourself a nice $4800 and only used $510 after domains and hosting. Congratulations you just made yourself $4290 in 48 days or so.

YEah. I like this, it is a really good post. I have been following for a while. I am doing site flipping JV with a pretty big goal by the 30th. Supplementing w/ hosting would help immensely.

Does anyone know which hosing affiliates pay the quickest?
Or any hosting affilaites that pay the 15th and 30th? that would work too.

are they business owners trying to get a site for their company or people stocking up sites? im trying to figure out how someone wouldnt know better to go to HG and get an account for 10 bucks and have a great WP site up in seconds...

Hosting is a good upsell to add to your bottom line, especially if you flip regularly.

Have a look on CJ for affiliate programs - most are really slow, so if you are impatient use reseller hosting instead an charge them XX a month. If you want to do this regularly, the reseller is definitely the way to go. You can also sell the hosting business further down the line once you have a consistent income.

Generally people stocking up on sites. Mine were selling a service that would be useful to webmasters, so most people into IM would be potential customers.

Just have a look and see what sort of sites sell. It's not too hard. Key is having a good incentive for BIN price and having a good auction copy.

Not everyone will take you up on the hosting, but some will.

No, it was a service. It wasn't a content site or anything like that.

I don't sell the sites anymore but I'm in the middle of brokering a site in the same niche, so to be professional I don't want to expose it here.

The point really wasn't about the site itself, as in the last 4 months or so since I posted this I'm sure things have changed, it's more about optimizing your sales price and upselling.

Thanks, I do pretty much the exact same thing with a little bit of a twist.

1. Find Niche
2. Purchase Search Engine Friendly Domain
3. Setup a quick autoblog CORRECTLY.
4. Leave it for about a month and after it starts generating adsense revenue + traffic, grab screenshots and sell it off. OR if the domain is good enough, I just go ahead and sell it at namepros.com, occasionally I can get more for it there.
5. Offer away all the templates and let the prospects know that I will continue up promotion.

Nicely summarized.

You can build a highly lucrative long-term business just by repeating these 5 steps every day.
Add some upsells here and there, and you're good
