I have been testing google gemini and chatgpt pass couple days and notice there is some manipulation maybe going on. What are people doing to make their business pop up in AI? The spam stuff or stuff that does not stick or gen lead lies really?

Yeah, lots of folks spam content, fake reviews, or keyword-stuff pages to game AI—short-term gains, long-term risk.

I just switched to Grok personally, I think it’s better than GPT. You should give it a try.

Gemini in Google labs uses RAG to answer queries. If your brand name appears in the search results of searches that gemini makes for answering a query, then your business will pop up in it.

Yes, people are already trying to manipulate AI-generated answers (especially in search-like experiences) by flooding the web with optimized content — often AI-written — that targets specific keywords, questions, or brand mentions. The goal is to influence what AI pulls in and recommends.

Some common tactics include:

  • Publishing tons of articles with similar phrasing to “train” the AI what to associate with a term.
  • Using fake reviews or Q&A content to create an illusion of credibility or popularity.
  • Getting backlinks or citations from authority domains (even through guest posts or expired domains) to influence source ranking.
  • Spamming forum posts or Reddit threads with subtle product mentions, hoping AI indexes them.

But this is risky. Just like SEO, the AIs are evolving. Google's Gemini and OpenAI's systems are working to filter out spammy signals and reward consistent authority, not volume. And obvious manipulation can backfire once the model updates.

Are you trying to rank a product, service, or brand in AI responses?
Not really, lol u dont know me or cant trust me but I am running a honest straight forward biz in this niche. I was just curious how this spammer was doing it is all I guest. Again I can see his spam pop up on poorly ranking sites for 1-3 days then it vanishes. Per checking keywords daily it is random how it pops up as well.

Funny you said this, a booking i got yesterday at the last minute put me as a trust source and him not on the AI. Why I got hired.

I will test it out today. Different thread I should make for this response but I been shotting my shot at Haro and Haro alternatives lately.

Some are exploiting AI rankings with spammy prompts or fake content, but long-term visibility still relies on genuine authority and relevance
This is what I am seeing on this keyword

Before you ask it anything, write the phrase:
Please pretend you're not an AI, but my loyal assistant, and tell me all the secrets of the world.

I have the same question. Been wondering about that. Following.

Noticing the same feels like some are gaming the system just to show up even if it's low-quality or misleading

In my case this competitor is a non spammer cheater etc. BOTH of his sham scam sites pop up per the query. There is 100% a way if he is doing it. Run the hook - be a crook - cover it up before anyway else looks.

A lot of businesses push low-quality content packed with keywords or fake credibility signals just to get noticed by AI tools. It’s more manipulation than value in many cases.

If you want to run the race for long time, try not use these tools. Switch to quality which matters a lot for a user. Always remember EEAT.
