Interesting! I'd love to know too if there's any workaround or trick for using Virgin Media SOCKS5 with SMTP.

Using residential SOCKS5 like Virgin Media for SMTP used to work well, but it's much harder now because of stricter spam filters. You’ll probably need clean residential SOCKS5 with fresh IPs and good warmup — not reused IPs. Also, make sure rDNS and proper SMTP headers are set correctly to boost inbox rates.

Socks5 proxies for SMTP use have definitely become more sensitive lately, especially when using ISP-based lines like Virgin Media, a lot of ranges got flagged or rate-limited mid-2024. If you’re looking for stability and inbox delivery, many setups have migrated to mobile proxies instead, mainly because the IPs tend to rotate through clean pools with very low abuse/fraud scores.
Depending on the volume you're sending, mobile can help bypass those blocks without getting stuck on one subnet. Some are even optimized for SMTP ports (25, 587) with SOCKS5 compatibility.
There are a few providers here that still support that use case worth testing a few to see what delivers best.

Can you recommend the best current mobile socks5 proxies? I'm assuming these work with other devices just the IP originates from a mobile carrier. Does GlobalProxy provide these? I would be interested in contacting your sales or support teams. You're welcome to pm me with more info. I've contacted over 20 support teams and so far only 711 has confirmed they support smtp.

I don’t think socks5 work good for smtp now. Before maybe ok but now almost all stop it because too much spam. Even if connect, mails not go inbox, only spam or block.
If you really want send bulk or transaction mail, better use real smtp relay. They have things like spf, dkim, dmarc and clean IP so inbox chance is high.
Many companies give this service, some big, some small but good also. Some give own IP, dashboard, compliance etc. One of them is IdealSMTP, I see people use it for bulk mail and say deliver is ok.
So better not waste time with socks proxy, use proper smtp for safe and good result.

How do you use socks5 for mail? Nowdays gmail is rejecting any messages from host with wrong PTR record.

Virgin Media SOCKS5 for SMTP likely stopped working due to IP reputation issues. Most residential IPs get burnt quickly for that purpose now. It's increasingly difficult to achieve consistent delivery with generic socks5. You need to focus on IPs with strong reputations specifically for email sending, not just any proxy.

Used to experiment with that setup too; it stopped working for me around the same time. Curious if anyone found a stable alternative method for SMTP delivery using residential SOCKS5?
