Shorts Views pattern is weird, is it only luck ?

Hey guys,

Have you noticed if your first Shorts on a new channel in 2025 got a lot of views? I'm currently sitting at 1.5k views across mine, and honestly, it's super weird. It feels like YouTube is testing the content or something. The analytics show big spikes followed by flat lines, then sometimes another spike. Some shorts spike and then slowly keep growing, while others look like they had viral potential but just died completely.

I’ve tried everything, top trending sounds, recommended audio, unique content (no AI, no recycling), and I even used viral hooks from other successful shorts right at the start. Still, some of them just flop.

The pattern is so strange. Anyone else seeing the same? curious about @YoutubeScientist thoughts

Shorts usually get a quick boost at first, YT kinda tests them out. It’s pretty normal to see a spike and then a drop.

You can never tell with the YT algorithm, but what I've noticed lately is that keeping the shorts just over a minute gets me better results atm.

It's not a matter of luck; it's essentially watch time that matters. That's the strongest signal for YouTube.

Have you guys ever experienced a flat view curve that suddenly spikes after a few weeks? Or do you usually know pretty quickly when a Short is dead?
Is it possible for some Shorts to go viral after some time?
