– Is link-building dying in favor of authority & EEAT?
For years, SEOs lived by the mantra "more backlinks = higher rankings." But with Google’s growing focus on EEAT (Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) and brand signals, is the old-school link game becoming obsolete?

Links still rule, but only if they’re earned, not bought. Small sites can’t compete anymore; Google only cares about big players. What’s Your View?

Any link Google suspects was bought would never work. It never did in the past, it won't do it today.

Some of that authority you need for your EEAT can only be gotten via link building.

"Fair point—high-quality links absolutely help establish authority, and Google isn’t ignoring them. But the game has shifted ,Look at brands dominating SERPs now—they’re not always the most linked, but the most trusted. If your site lacks topical depth, UX, or real expertise, even great links won’t save you (HCU casualties prove this) .So yes, links matter—but only as part of a bigger EEAT + brand strategy. Agree or are we overselling the ‘post-links’ era?"

It’s less about quantity now and more about context and trust. EEAT definitely shifted the focus toward real authority and reputation. For small sites, it’s tough, but not impossible.

sadly a lot of tricks that worked yrs ago have faded

Link building isn’t dying, but it’s evolving earned, high-quality backlinks combined with strong EEAT signals are now the most effective SEO strategy.

How to strengthen EEAT (Google's quality criteria) and domain authority? Need practical tips.

On high DR domains I buy only classic anchor backlinks. Branded links I get only from average quality donors.
