Is Tesla losing the Electric Car Competition?

In short, yes Tesla is still a dominant player in the electric vehicle market.

My take is that EVs are a scam. Take ages to charge. Just use a petrol/ diesel car and drive thousands of kilometers without having to 'charge'.

Maybe I just dont have the knowledge about cars, but I really cant name one other than Tesla.

Tesla is still a major player in the EV world, but it's facing tough competition. Tesla's profits took a hit, down 71% in Q1 2025, partly due to CEO Elon Musk's political activities affecting the brand's image. So, while Tesla isn't out of the game, it's definitely feeling the heat from new and aggressive competitors.

Tesla surely is decreasing its sales but still maintaining a major player brand in the market. with some more innovative ideas and new designs then maybe that will make their sales increase.

Yes for sure. China's byd , India's tata are growing as the biggest competitor, and yes the Tesla's price too high comparing with their competitors.

Tesla needs to drop Musk. Till they do that, their brand is poison. What was he thinking about, The people who buy EVs are generally left wing liberals who care about the planet He has now revealed himself as a right wing Nazi, who is not satidfied with being the richest man in the world, but wants to become a unelected dictator.
So yes, Tesla has been hurt, but I doubt if it will go under. But it will never return to the dominance it had before Musk went all political.

100% they are losing. Tesla cars are way too expensive.

Currently I am in China. These electric cars here are next level. Just yesterday I was sitting in a 6 seater, really luxurious and comfortable. I looked up the price and it was $30-45k. Its unbelievable. They have so many electric car brands here.

But (!) who knows about the quality. Long term, I have no idea.

Everyone was waiting for the 'Tesla Killer' and it was there all along....Musk himself!
