Installing windows 10 in a OVH dedicated server, how to?

Hi,

Sorry if this is not the correct forum, I don´t know where to ask.

I have a dedicated server rented in OVH with windows server 2022 installed and licensed.

I would like to change my SO to windows 10 but obviously it´s not available in their default SO´s.

It is there an easy way to do it? I tried uploading an iso file using the KVM but it doesn´t upload.

Maybe there is someway of doing it from my windows server SO?

I summarize:

OVH allows booting from a custom ISO using IPMI (KVM over IP) or Rescue Mode + IPXE/netboot.​

First, get a Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft:

https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10

Upload the ISO to a public web server or file hosting service (e.g., Dropbox, your own FTP, etc.) with direct download link.
Log in to the OVH Manager. Navigate to your dedicated server → Boot tab.
Change boot mode to Rescue Mode (Linux). Reboot the server.

You’ll receive SSH credentials via email once the server is in rescue mode.

Use iPXE to Boot Windows 10 ISO​

If your server has IPMI or KVM over IP access (check under “IPMI” tab or “KVM” in the manager), do this:

Via IPMI / KVM Console​

Mount your custom Windows 10 ISO in the virtual media. Boot from the ISO using the KVM console. Go through the Windows 10 setup.

This is not a full comprehensive guide, this is a more or less how to do it and confirming it is possible, make sure to use your own valid Windows 10 license key.
Alternativelly, activate Windows 10 later, but it will have limitations (no personalization, etc.).

Glad to hear that, I hope this helps others in the community too, just keep in mind the licencing does not propagate(because of course it does not , lol) .

I don't think they'd have an issue with that. I am running a non-activated Windows Server on a dedicated server with a renowned server provider without any issues for the last 5 years.

Lol nice, nothing to worry about, the only thing is that when I was installing the SO the server stopped sending ping signal (I forgot to disable monitoring) so the maintenance team took a look at the server... they decided to disable monitoring for me haha
