I am fine with disabling online status or current activity (viewing thread)

But don't like this thing

Someone shared this in a recent dispute.

Yes, you can use option B to find hidden profile content.

Yes, you can mark user as shady and move on.

In reality? This comes after being scammed. (just saying) Not BHW fault.

I can't find a good reason to have this option available at any membership level.

It even harms the users experience, as members could use someone's profile to advance.

They can follow the member, but still not helpful.

Why would someone want to hide himself? (nobody can, option B)

From fans, stalkers? Report button, ignore.

Is this level of privacy really a good thing? I don't think so.

Thanks.

''Privacy'' has become a crutch to help scammers to hide their shit
Good members want their recent activity visible, they want to show how good are their content to their potential customers
Scammers want to hide that they're applying to 83948343 WTB and HAF threads in 12 hours and other scammy activities

There is also other alternative of searching for messages by user.

In the Search button write the username and then all their messages will come out

They can hide their profile but they can’t hide their posts .

I honestly whole-heartly agree.
I don't see why you would want to hide your history, at all.
Especially when you are "offering services".
Isn't that why we have portfolios websites ;)

the same logic...
when puberty starts, we all wanted to hide and remove our history :(

by the way, no matter what you can't stop scammers, even in face to face transactions

I agree. On top of that I would also like to mention that if a Member limits their Profile, nobody can report that Profile directly. But you either have to contact Support or Report one of their posts (if they have one) and explain situation that way.

Maybe it would be a good idea to include a Report button on popup card for those who limits their profile?

Privacy is what makes this forum unique, I'm sure mods know whats really happening behind the scenes

It is used by scammers here under the guise of privacy. Jog on, pal.
what the f do you expect next ?
Why not every newbie gets private security guard moderator and everyone have to give their social security ID while signing up ?

@Funiki has a good alternative here: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/r...-can-see-member-profile.1703394/post-19111689

But, at the end of the day this isn't a new topic by any means. So, the reason we allow this is choice.

Buyers: if a seller has their profiles hidden, skip them if it makes you uncomfortable. You CAN post in their sales thread that you were considering buying from them but you couldn't read their profile so you'll be skipping them.

Sellers: everything you do is going to make or break a sale. Realise you could be missing out on sales by staying hidden.

This topic is on our radar, but for now we don't see a need for change. Especially with Marketplace2 on the horizon. If you'd like to track the history of this request, here are past threads:
