Today I watched a video about a free sound effect plugin I just heared about.

The video itself is pretty plain, just demoing the software without any commentary, but when I went to the description, this is what it said:
[Basic description of the plugin - one sentence]
When you watch the video clip, you will see an icon labeled FREE. Click on it, and it will redirect you to the website where you can download the FREE Plugin.
Enjoy the download! Cheers!

So people are forced to watch the entire video if they want the free download link.

Kinda smart IMO...

Some videos have code , 3-6 places in a video.
Mostly link shortener

It's indeed a smart idea, I've already seen that before, the only problem is when someone comments "go to 8:43 to see the link" :D

Not really, even kids fast forward to find the password for niches.... so if kids know to do it, it's not worth it.

Especially when someone is lying as you are not able to put links in videos on youtube. This was possible many years ago.

You want to be smart? You have to follow Mr Beast advice.

Give what you say you are giving and overdeliver it. Simple.

This all just looks cool to people who are not doing this stuff.

It's a bad move. Perhaps some mature audience will seek it, but it's a not a way for channel/video growth.

Even for a short scam spam project...

That so called "plugin" would most probably steal all your crypto. Be careful.
This is an almost 20 years old software that can cut certain frequencies from sounds that was made by a relatively reputable developer.
I think it's fine.

And there is always someone who does this.:D But they are also usually followed by more comments claiming they checked 8:43 and still can't see it.....

Did they turn off the comment section? If not, there is always someone who would give the direct download link in the comment section.

Sounds like engagement to me, and I don't think I would mind that.

The point is not to make the most boring video you and forcefully make users watch it, but to make a nice video and give users an extra push toward watching all of it.

I have seen a guy giving coupon code in between each of his videos. He used to get lot of views on the videos but now he has stopped uploading content. YouTube is not that easy to get views now .

I've actually seen this multiple time now too, but it's still interesting cause it really looks like it's effective to add for watchtime but also for the link clicks.
