how do i add link to my video on wordpress, i want to redirect users to an external link when they click on a video.
just like pictures, you can add link and redirect users when they click on image.

Put a thumbnail of the video in the image format and insert a link as in the screenshot you have above. Since you don't want it to play when clicked upon, but rather to be redirected to an external resource, just use a thumbnail.

This is solid advice as the thumbnail will reduce loading latency and you can just click the link button. I alternate between these and embedding a video depending on where it's directed to. Obviously not if its adult

Also, use an image editing software to add a play button to the thumbnail so it looks like an actual video.

Wdym? What exactly do you want? When you say you want the video to autoplay—autoplay where? On your own page, or on an external link like you mentioned in your original post? Because the Thumbnail + Playbutton solution suggested above would make the video "autoplay" in the external link.

then you can make that work with the "custom HTML block" element in WordPress

Replace https://example.com with your external link and https://yourwebsite.com/path-to-video.mp4 with your video link. Your video must be hosted on your website, if you try to add a YouTube video, it won't work. Play with styling to make it fit your requirements.

You can place iframe over the video.. and make the video autoplay with html.

You can make this work with a mix of a custom JS script and a custom field for the link redirect,
Basically, wrapping the video with a specific ID/Class, placing a hidden link element on top of it as a whole,

You can use AI to get the specific script, it shouldn't be as hard,
Just make sure your prompt describes the case specifically as needed, and you'll get it to work in no time,
