Hello everyone, I want to ask 2 questions related to SEO, I hope everyone can answer.
1: I heard that the Sandbox algorithm will hinder the ranking of new websites and if I build too many backlinks in a short time, it will be violated, is that true? If I use expired and old domains, will I be at risk of building backlinks faster than usual and be sandboxed?
2:
If I use an expired domain with the same topic but operating in a different country, will it be effective? For example, I use an expired domain about a game that has a history of good performance in the US, but what if I use that domain to make a website about a similar topic in Asia?

1. the sandbox is a period when google holds back a site from ranking while it gathers enough data and processes all the signals, which takes time. this mostly applies to brand-new domains with no history. if you’re using an expired domain, google might skip the sandbox phase if it already has data on that domain. but if the content or niche has changed, rankings might drop later as google reassesses things.

2. it could definitely work, but a lot depends on your local competition.

thanks for your feedback. what do you think if an expired domain has a good history and backlinks from wiki? would it be good to reuse that domain and build completely new content but with the same topic as the history? and please tell me how would a backlink from wiki to my site with the destination : url.com and url.com/category be different if I just need to rank my main site as url.com?

one link like that definitely won’t be enough, you need to look at the site’s entire backlink profile

would it be good to reuse that domain and build completely new content but with the same topic as the history?

yeah, writing new content on the same topic is better than switching to something completely different. but even better is restoring the old content from the web archive first, then gradually updating or replacing it with your own

in this case, you can just do a 301 redirect from url.com/category to url.com

Actually, Google has not yet officially confirmed the existence of a specific "sandbox" algorithm. Nonetheless, what is implied is that that new websites will need time to build authority and trust before they can compete with the established websites. Backlinks do help. You will have to get backlinks from high-quality websites in your niche. With backlinks, quality beats quantity.

google don't officially confirm a lot of things, but this doesn't mean they're not real

Also, there was a "leak" of a google document last year that explained how their algo works (or part of it, I don't remember) and I believe there was the word "sandbox" mentioned in that file. Either this, or it was called something else, but the sandboxing effect is real... I'll have a look around the forum for a few minutes to see if I can find that file again, but if not, you can take my word for it that it's real

The github link mentioned in the last post of this thread links to some leaked google documentation about how their algorithm (or part of it) works. I did a quick search for the word "sandbox" and found these 2 links:

Now, to be honest, I don't remember if these 2 sections are what I remembered as sandbox, there might be other sections that are more relevant than these 2, but I'm not going through the whole thing to find those as I'm not curious enough. If you want to prove me wrong, by all means, spend a few days going through that mumbo-jumbo (I suck at coding / tech, so I can be excused for not going through this borefest activity ) to find the section about sandbox...
