I have seen lots of channels with millions of followers still focus solely on shorts,
Why don't they add long form videos to their channel?
Most of these people do movie recaps and some ai generated shorts.

You can definitely upload long and short videos on the same channel. I guess those creators who are only uploading shorts don't have enough time to work on the longer videos as it takes much more time to record and edit longer videos.

Totally! You sticking to Shorts probably find them quicker to make since they require less editing and time. Long-form videos definitely take more effort, so it's understandable if they focus on the shorter content.

I find short videos are an effective channel to attract traffic and subscribers, so people still focus on making youtube short videos. And you can post both long and short content on the same channel. People still do it, your views will not decrease because of that reason.

Yes, you can post both shorts and long videos on the same channel, and there's nothing wrong with mixing two. Many creators focus only on shorts right now because the algorithm pushes short, catchy clips to help channels grow fast, even they don’t pay much. But adding longer videos can help you make more money through ads, memberships, etc. If you introduce longer videos slowly, label them clearly, organize them into playlists, and keep posting shorts regularly, your followers won’t leave, and you might even reach more people who enjoy longer content.

Doesn't work like that. Either you have a channel getting like 100 views per month and don't know any better, or you don't know what you're talking about. They are two different audiences and can harm your long form if you introduce shorts. Just because YouTube says they are "two different algorithms" doesn't mean shit, because once you overinflate your channel with short traffic, they're going to burn every long form that you upload.

That said, if you have a strong micro niche and maintain a similar editing style between your Shorts and long-form videos, you might be able to succeed with both formats. I’ve managed to do that on one of my channels.
