Gooood Morning, Vietnam!

To begin with a little background information. I started SEO in 2018 and that's where I found BHW. I ran several threads of my own selling SEO services and made an agency, successfully working with several clients in a whole host of niches. At some point I shifted to working solely with eCom websites and found great success in doing so. Towards the end of 2023, I stopped my agency as my own projects outside of SEO were doing well.

It's been almost 2 years since then, and I wanted to give it another crack. On a bigger scale.

My SEO knowledge is rusty, but my fundamentals are strong. I think in a couple weeks/months I'll be able to provide an update on this statement.

I won't be disclosing any identifying information of course, but will try my best to answer questions and provide as much value from this thread that I can - other than motivation.

These are the metrics for the site in the last 7 days. It's actually on a decline, which I'll go into a little later. I'll try to provide a weekly update and delve into any changes I've made or what I've been working on.

On my list to do:

- Content
Working on a solid content strategy for the blog, I feel this is overlooked a lot for eCom.

- Optimisation
The site has a fuck ton of pages. I mean a fuck ton (this is what I'll expand on later). This means I have to rely on automated optimisation for most pages, and dedicating my time to optimising the pages that can provide the most value.

- Linkbuilding
I've been working on a strategy, just need to keep consistent.

-

See you soon.

Goodluck with your journey, when you say fuck ton, are these autogenerated content pages/product pages ?

Thank you. Product pages, but it's a weird situation. Won't say much on it right now but will definitely have an update here at some point in the future :)

Wish you best of the luck for your journey and hope you can achieve your goal!!

Do you use informational keywords in the main pages you are trying to rank (homepage), or do you go only with commercial and transactional keywords?

Maybe I'm asking too much, but I'd like to know, if you are willing to share:

1) Are the product descriptions generated by AI?
2) Is this ecommerce website in English or another local language?
3) Are you selling locally or internationally?

Wish you the best for your journey!

You're already doing great.
Looking forward to better results.

You are already getting good traffic, even though it's only been 7 days. How many pages do you have on your website? Also, do you make sure to avoid any plagiarism?

Good luck with your journey! :)

As always, I'm late to update - Been a hectic week.

The past 7 days:

Screenshot_393.png

Average position has gone down, but so have impressions.

Good news - The core update from last month which shook eCom results (and also hit my site) seems to be favouring my site now. Seems like they've done another update, fingers crossed they realise the value of my site.

Looking to hopefully get the clicks up to 3k or so for the week.

No changes were made on the site thus far. Will be tweaking some things this week though.

Time to answer some questions.

Do you use informational keywords in the main pages you are trying to rank (homepage), or do you go only with commercial and transactional keywords?
At the moment the focus is on product pages rather than ranking the homepage. It's an even natural mix of commercial, transactional, and informational keywords.

Maybe I'm asking too much, but I'd like to know, if you are willing to share:

1) Are the product descriptions generated by AI?
2) Is this ecommerce website in English or another local language?
3) Are you selling locally or internationally?

Wish you the best for your journey!

Never too much :)

1. Mostly, yes. But it isn't just raw responses, have a nice flow in place that I'll likely cover in another update.
2. English, but localisation options are available.
3. Currently the focus is on the local market, but we ship internationally.

Thanks!

What do you think has the most weightage?
Out of the list I mentioned? Well I'll be boring here by saying I think all of them are important in their own ways. I would say that content and optimisation are very important and favoured by google over links, but links can do a lot. I've ranked shit content websites with just links alone, and I've ranked great content websites with thin/no links.

You are already getting good traffic, even though it's only been 7 days. How many pages do you have on your website? Also, do you make sure to avoid any plagiarism?

Good luck with your journey! :)
Haha the site is a lot older than 7 days, this was just the past 7 days screenshot :D - The site is around 8 months old, but major work has only been done in the past 3-4 months. The site has more than 50k pages. Avoiding plagiarism is hard when every other competitor is selling the same products, so for product descriptions I don't think plagiarism matters much (ofc don't just rip a competitors description) since facts are facts. But for the blog I keep it unique.

Thanks!

See you soon :D

Bonjour,

As expected, traffic has gone up. This is great and I'm taking advantage of this push as much as possible. I also realized my previous screenshots have been a bit vague, so here and there I'll add some full weekly screenshots.

Now is probably a good time to mention that outside of pure Google search results, I'm also working on the shopping tab and getting traffic from the google merchant center free listings.

The site seems to be regaining its once lost positions before the core update, so that's good news.

I've began to roll out content again, so far 3 new articles have been posted.

Small update for today, will have a bigger one next week.

Welcome back senior

Good luck and the site is built on Shopify or WooCommerce? Also, would you mind to reveal whether it's a kind of drop shipping site or shipping on your own?

Another slightly late update but an update nonetheless.

Screenshot_407.png

Hit the 3k/week goal - This is good but I know I can do better.

What's been done:

- Product page optimisation. Working on adding more detailed descriptions and improving schema
- Content - No more articles have been posted, but a flow is now in place to be constantly publishing hand-written content on topics I've researched.
- Linkbuilding - Slow work on this side but keeping it going. Not trying to go too hard until the site is completely optimised.

Google Shopping:

Slowly but surely have been improving and getting more clicks from this side. I've been researching more into optimising the site and feeds for this, and soon I think we can be a major player on this tab for my locale.

Google Ads:

Will be dipping my toes into ads very soon. I'm not completely new to ads but I'm very rusty and want to research before I just chuck money at it. I do have a strategy that will go hand in hand with my SEO efforts.

-

Currently not finding enough time to write a thorough post, but I have a few small tips/guides I'd like to expand on in the future.

-

Goal:

5k clicks/week within 30 days of this post. I think it's possible, will prove myself right.

Welcome back senior
Cheers :)

Shopify. It's a mix of both, quite a weird setup but it makes money. Can't go in too deep on it at the moment but I'll be sure to write a bigger post once I'm at 100k clicks/month haha

Yellow.

Another small update for this week. Not much done at all, I've been very distracted with other work and have been letting this roll by itself.

Screenshot_417.png

Clicks are on the up and up, slowly but surely. The only work that's been done is adding more descriptions into pages lacking them.

One thing I am looking into is ranking on bing, and also ChatGPT / AI SEO. Read quite a few case studies and its pretty interesting. I think the market share of AI Traffic will grow exponentially, and I definitely want to be ahead of the curve.

Good article to read: https://ahrefs.com/blog/ai-traffic-study/

Of course I'm already a couple years behind but there's still a lot that can be done. I'll be running a bunch of tests in this area on top of optimising for bing. Let's see how it goes.

Till next time.

Great journey, good luck
Are you already making some sales?
