Google Crawling & Indexing Drop

Hey!

I’m a total beginner in SEO, so I might be making wrong assumptions—apologies in advance if that’s the case.

I recently built a job board that automatically fetches job postings from multiple sources. In V1, my site had around 50k job listings, each on a separate page. Initially, Google crawled my site heavily, and I saw plenty of impressions (though no clicks, usually ranking around position 100).

However, I’ve noticed a huge drop recently:

• Impressions: 272 on March 7 → 3 today
• Crawl requests: 11,000 on March 5 → 11 on March 16 (last update)

I've uploaded a sitemap on March 5 with all 50k job pages links.

I suspect Google may have flagged my site because:

1. I uploaded a massive number of pages to a brand-new site.
2. Many job postings were nearly identical (some companies only change the job title between job postings).
3. All content was copied from original job postings (from companies websites).

To address this, since March 13, all job descriptions are now rewritten using an LLM to ensure uniqueness. Instead of copying content, job details are structured in bullet points by LLM. However, I still haven’t seen any indexing improvement—GSC shows the last indexed pages were on March 10.

Any ideas on how to boost Google’s crawling activity? Does my reasoning sound correct, or am I missing something?

Site stats:

• Core Web Vitals (GSC): Performance 95, Accessibility 90, Best Practices 100, SEO 100
• Offsite SEO: Practically nonexistent (focusing on onsite for now)
• Ahrefs: DR 0, Backlinks: 3 (100% do follow), Linking websites: 2 (100% do follow)

I think your site got flagged by google and there is no option to recover your site. if your are lucky after some your site automatically recover. Any one here who how to revcover flagged site so give reply.

For a new website/domain, it's not worth investing any longer to get it back on track,
That will usually take some long periods, better start with a new/different domain at this point

So, switching to a new domain and server seems to be the quickest and simplest solution, especially since I don’t have any domain authority or user base to lose—would you agree?


If I reset the site in Google, I’d like to understand why the current one was flagged to avoid making the same mistake. Do you think any of the theories mentioned in the post apply? Could it be due to duplicated content from other sites, a massive sitemap on a new page, or something else?


As for the reset, what’s the best approach to ensure Google doesn’t recognize the new domain as a copy of the old one? Would simply changing the server and domain be enough? Should I rewrite all the content? And could Google still detect similarities based on the HTML structure, even if the content itself is different?

You should check for any manual penalties in GSC, if none then focus on improving content quality. Google is much smarter now and will not rank thin or low value pages.

Mass-uploading 50k pages to a fresh domain without backlinks or engagement signals looks suspicious. Crawling drops like that usually mean Google decided most of your pages aren’t worth indexing.

I don't have any manual penalties. Improving content quality makes sense. Do you have any idea how long it can take Google to start crawling my site again?

Seems that the number of indexed pages is going down.

No manual penalties or anything that would pop up.
Is the only option to improve content quality and wait for Google to start indexing pages again in some time (days, weeks, months?), or can I do any manual stuff that would improve the crawling and indexing rate? Besides changing domain

You’ve been hit. As long as you start getting deindexed then you’ve been hit .
