A friend of mine is looking to get into web design. She is already in the design industry but I don't think shes done anything website related. Can anyone recommend a good route into web design, any course recommendations and also what she would need to learn? I hear a lot of people using Figma to design websites, is that a good thing to learn and if so, what else is required in order to turn a figma design into a working website?

Figma is a good thing to learn..
Along with it you should learn uidesign principles

This is a good resource from the creators of tailwind

If you want to make a simple website like a blog or a sales page, or a store selling things. The simplest way is to use wordpress + elementor. Drag and drop web design. And there are many quick tutorials on youtube.

Here's the path for learning web design course. And also several other free paths such as YouTube Tutorials..

Figma's definitely a good start, but she'll also need to pick up some coding skills like HTML, CSS, and probably some JavaScript to bring those designs to life. A bootcamp or online course focusing on front-end development could be really helpful.

Figma's great for mockups, but coding that design into reality is where the real work begins – HTML, CSS, and probably some JavaScript. FreeCodeCamp's a solid, free place to start.
