Which is the most secure crypto exchange after binance ?

I always tend to go by size & daily trading volume, which obviously isn’t a guarantee if you look at what happened to FTX but I don’t keep any funds on CEXs other than trading & immediately withdrawing right after.

I use both Coinbase & Kraken, both are solid and withdrawal/trading fees are manageable.

Ensuring that the exchange stores the majority of its funds offline, or in cold storage, is one of the most important factors in maintaining security.

Probably Kraken, Coinbase or any other US based CEX. I wouldn’t leave anything significant on any exchange for a long period of time though. Cold/hardware wallets are the way to go.

If you specifically want to earn interest similar to what you would earn on Bitcoin, then platforms like BlockFi, Nexo, or Celsius may interest you as they offer BTC interest-bearing accounts.

That can and have happened to majority of other exchange platforms.

It has been resolved.
I wouldn't recommend Bybit to any trader or investor that wants good safety of funds stored.

Coinbase I think

After the whole FTX debacle it’s save to assume that size doesn’t equal security, but personally I’m sticking to the bigger players - Coinbase, Kraken & Binance.

As of 2025, Coinbase is widely considered the most secure crypto exchange after Binance, especially for compliance-focused users and institutions. Here's why:
  1. Regulatory Compliance
    • Registered in the U.S. and publicly traded on NASDAQ
    • Fully adheres to KYC/AML regulations
    • Regular audits and regulatory oversight
  2. Security Infrastructure
    • 98% of customer funds stored in offline cold wallets
    • Insurance on custodial assets (against theft or cyber breaches)
    • Industry-leading encryption and access protocols
  3. User Protection
    • Biometric login, 2FA, device whitelisting
    • Anti-phishing measures
    • Real-time threat detection and monitoring systems
  4. Institutional Services
    • Coinbase Custody is a gold standard in institutional crypto storage
    • Offers SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type 2 certifications for security controls

Other Notably Secure Exchanges (After Binance and Coinbase):

  • Kraken
    • Known for security-first approach; never hacked
    • Offers proof-of-reserves, cold wallet management, and strong compliance
  • Gemini
    • Regulated in New York under the NYDFS
    • High-security standards, strong governance, and insurance coverage
  • Bitstamp
    • One of the oldest and most transparent exchanges
    • Emphasizes EU regulatory compliance and insurance-backed custody

The most secure crypto exchange after Binance is widely considered to be Kraken. Other highly secure exchanges include OKX, Bitget, Gate.io, and MEXC

After Binance, the most secure crypto exchanges are Coinbase Pro, Kraken, Gemini, and Bitstamp. They’re known for strong security, regulatory compliance, and good track records. Always use 2FA and consider hardware wallets for extra safety.
