i can see its unethical but 90% of the methods shared here are some grey area.
you can create a fake website and company and list it as prior experience. use voip numbers to be your own reference.
can you get away with it -- typically. hiring dept gets 100s of applications a day. some get that per hour. are they going to go to state tax records site and confirm that llc really exists for their candidate short-list. some don't even confirm your certifications. at least in my experience.

Apllying on jobs on UPWORK counts? If yes, then hell yeah I did. I didn't knew how to fire up properly Photoshop/Illustrator but I knew I could learn how to do it and I did. Landed the job then in a week he got the Logo design. He liked it, he rewarded me, he gave me feedback. Job done, new skill unlocked but I've 'mislead' it to think I am capable. Then also I got projects on my name that I haven't had any clue how to complete it, but I know I could outsource it and I did. Still a misleading, but the promise was kept and the results delivered.
If I would start hiring and someone that has lots of experience as a skill, no prior work experience but he/she is very good and delivers and then I find about the lie because they wanted to land the job, the fck do I care? For real. I even encourage 'dark/blacknhat creativity' as long as it diesn't affect the biz overall.
All great, succesfull and really solid businesses they had a moment that they lied about something, to 'employ' new orders/clients etc. (This is a something related to the lie factor).

The higher it is, the more likely they are getting fired.
It hurts the company rep having them onboard regardless of their strengths.

I think this is more west related type of corp behaviour. And when I say west i do refer to US nainly where the justice/legal factor is a bit more crazy then the rest of the world. Don't say it's bad
