I'm not really even sure how to phrase this question correctly...but... I know you can control a PC remotely. I want to set up scrapebox on a PC somewhere with a big ol' fatty line and control it the PC from my laptop virtually. Is this something that people do? I live out on the coast and can only get a halfway decent connection out there, about 1mb. So, I'm thinking about:

A) Renting a little office somewhere with a decent connection and having a PC in there that I manage remotely. The PC will run scrapebox and maybe if I have the balls someday, xrumor.

B) Somebody must have thought of this already! Who offers this sort of thing?

C) I am completely lame and this is basically just renting a Windows server from any old host.

As you can see I am really in the dark here - any help is much appreciated!

I am interested in this too.

Do you think it's safe to run xrumer and/or scrapebox on a US server?

You will probably get booted from most VPS's for processor or memory usage abuse.

It's completely possible, and in fact results in improved performance. I started on a VPS but ended up moving to a dedicated server.

During commenting, SB uses more processing power than anything, the RAM usage is nearly zero.

However, during large scraping runs (in excess of 500,000) it uses a lot more RAM and the processor usage is nearly zero.

So make sure you get something with a nice balance of the two, particularly if you're going to be wanting to run more than one instance at the same time (like I do).

I got booted from my first US company I used for "spam complaints". Not sure if that was even true, but they did boot me.

I have since moved to another US company, but I was upfront before I purchased and simply asked them if what I was going to be using it for was going to be alright with them. They said yes, and I've been fine since.

Deeping on how deep into spam the user is, investing a few hundred dollars a month into a high transfer, fast dedi server would be ideal so that they could run Xrumer, SB, and SENuke all on one box at the same time. SENuke is getting it's scheduler, Xrumer already has it... Makes it a great solution overall assuming that SB will continue to run stably on the server.

I can't get it to run stably locally which is the only thing that would give me pause on using a server or VPS for SB. There are alternatives for commenting that you can pseudo-multi-thread stably however. SB is still a great app for everything else despite the stability issue that affects the MINORITY of people. Most use it 100% just fine, lucky bastards.

Well I have a very good machine myself and pretty good connection 64 Mbit/sec(8mb/s) download and 16 MBit/sec(2mb/s) Upload and 8 GB ram + Quad Core 3.2 GHZ :) and I am running Senuke with 8 Browsers or 12 Opened inside with no problem haven't tried running both senuke and SB simulteniosly tho..
When Senuke gets Schelder I am going to make around 30 movie sites set a good scheldule for them for 1 month ahead and just enjoy life :P

Thanks a lot everybody - I'll start off with the VPS route and will try and remember to post here about how it went...

Anyone reccomend any companies that haven't had a problem with this sort of thing?

Thanks

Lewi

When i turned off the AOL search it solved 99% of my problems. Only up until last week it was crashing anytime i did anything.

Might be worth a try if you havent already

To run SB on a VPS, do I chose a 2003 or 2008 server?
Web, Standard or Enterprice?
Web is cheapest, do I need more? I don't even know the difference.

Please help me :o
