Expired domain : 301 redirect or content with backlink?

Hi,
I bought an expired domain to boost another site of mine. It's not in my niche but has a good link profile.
Is it better to redirect this domain to my site with a 301, or write content on the root page with a link to my site?
I'm inclined to do the former, it's quicker and theoretically it should transmit more juice; what do you think guys?

Thanks mate, your approach is very wise. And since I am not sure of the exact history of this site (penalized or not) I think you convinced me to choose the safest path and built a quick little site instead of redirecting the domain straight to my site. Cheers

301 is not good idea if this domain is not in your niche! you can create an article and insert link.

Write niche-relevant content on the expired domain with a contextual link to your site is safer and more effective for long-term SEO than a 301 redirect, which risks devaluing link.

You can write the content on the domain and add links to your site if it is your long term project. It will work for you. Also, if it's your short term project you can redirect the domain to your main site.

Create webiste first and wait. If the website ranks you can add homepage link oraz redirect it to your money page.

If your goal is short-term, you can test the 301 redirection and monitor via the Google Search Console if the juice is properly transmitted.If you want a more stable and natural effect, creating content on the expired domain with a contextual link will be more effective and less risky.
