Spam is not getting removed anymore

The bots have taken over the forum, can't post anything without getting bombarded with AI crap.

A huge part of content just needs to be ignored, feels like you need to step over a pile of sh*t every time you open any thread.

How can these be legitimate questions in this thread?

A user has posted under Reddit subcategory that they have lost 90% of their accounts.

Member 1 pushes out AI-generated response, stating the absolute obvious and helps literally no one besides wasting air and leaving their digital excrement around.

Member 2 asks if are these social media accounts or ad accounts - THE OP JUST POSTED THEY LOST REDDIT ACCOUNTS - Full AI-generated account, every single post.

Why let them do that, how is this not against the rules? Their posts are filled with AI responses that divert away from the topic almost always or never help anyone.

Both of these posts were reported as spam and spam was rejected. They are spam.

Yeah, it's terrible. There's also an account that includes links to websites in its AI replies, unaware that the AI output is actually outdated by a year or two. These links either redirect to a 404 page or an unsecured site. I guess they can't remove it because, to some extent, it still answers the question, but this is not the way IMO. It will only hurt the forum in the long run.

It doesn't matter; AI continues to evolve and lower its cost. We can ignore that until one day, for some inexplicable reason, it will become harder and harder to find employment or clients. Each day you will earn less money, and inflation will rise a bit more. You will ask yourself questions, but the media will tell you that nothing is happening, that you can continue with your life, that the war, the pandemic, or whatever they're going to invent next is to blame.

Only when you have almost nothing to eat (you will reach this point without realizing it, since natural selection process is not observable to the naked eye) will you find yourself in the same situation as the finches on the Galapagos Islands, where natural selection did its job. I suppose the government will give some kind of universal basic income in exchange for having absolute control down to the millimeter of what you do and say. Perhaps they are also considering not intervening and letting nature balance the ecosystem. Meanwhile, you can ignore all this and continue with the Monday to Friday script. By the way, who invented the days of the week and why?

By the way, I'm telling you all this as entertainment; there's really nothing to be done. Like everything in the universe, these are cycles, and it wouldn't be strange to think that civilizations also have them and fail to escape the planet before self-annihilation.

Well, thinking about it carefully, if you want to take it seriously, it's simple: leave the cities, accumulate gold and silver, only carry the necessary cash, and learn to grow your own food. The chaos might last weeks or months. They must already have the solution prepared in advance for humanity to accept being enslaved.

First, spam IS getting removed. It's getting removed in droves. How do I know? I've been tasked with reducing it on this forum. However, neither of the user's posts fall under our definition of spam:

3.5 Engaging in post count inflation by posting excessive amounts of short replies for the sole purpose of inflating your post count. This includes the infamous “thanks for the share.” (If you’d like to say “thanks” to someone for their effort/contribution, make use of the Like button).

After diving into why your reports were rejected, I agree with the mod that took care of the reports that they're not spam. The two accounts aren't related (you'll have to trust us on that one), they're not posting something short and unhelpful, they're on topic for the thread. Simply being AI generated is NOT against the rules.

Now, what would make these actual spam posts? That the mod would have acted on?

[*]Posting several times in a row instead of using the multi-quote feature
[*]Making very short or unhelpful replies
[*]Posting short "thanks" messages instead of using the react button
[*]Posting "PM me for details" instead of providing information in the post
[*]Posting short, duplicate "welcome" messages in the Introduction forum
[*]Getting around rule 3.5 using "thank you" images.

To wrap this up, we're dealing with a lot of spam daily. As I've said in different places now, PLEASE report suspected spam when you see it as well as other rule violations. It really helps process it faster vs. waiting for staff to trip over it. HOWEVER, please keep in mind that it may not always be dealt with in a way you expected since we're working on something in the bigger picture.

And yes, the AI responses are on my radar and we discuss it internally as well. I promise we're not ignoring it.
