Google's YouTube wins bitter Viacom battle

I hope this means good things for youtube's future.....i was gettign tired of having my stuff pulled.

Interesting story, I think what's gonna end up happening the US is going to regulate search engines and hosting companies not to harbor anything that is considered copyright infringement its only a matter of time before they implement a system which make people jump through hoops to get a peer to peer network. I think at some point in time, there peer to peer networks are gonna have to get a some sort of license that they will have to present to a hosting company like Godaddy or Hostgator to have a P2P. If you think about it its not really hard to stop copyright infringement.

All you have to do is tell the big players such as google, yahoo, msn and so on anything and every P2P that does not have the proper license to operate a P2P or video streaming service needs to be de-indexed from your search, then it get's trickled down to companies like godaddy who has to verify any and every license before letting it operate. I'm not saying it will stop copyright infringement all together 100% but it sure will cut out maybe 65% of it

Yea maybe. But remember, peer to peer can host offshore. And if google is regulated then somebody will start a small search engine offshores as well which cant be regulated. Might of fact, Im going to start a offshore search engine right now and get ahead of game

And I'm tired of music industry saying they losing money to peer to peer or torrents..Naw that aint the case, if there artist make better music maybe they will sell more..

Its funny how Anthony Hamilton singer just went gold., lil wayne went plat, soulja boy plat,as well as a few others..

Reason is because they make good music and not no bullshit...People aint trying to buy a $15 album just to here 1 good song. consumers wised up

i actually buy all my mp3s.....not from itunes though.... i buy my mp3s from off shore sites that charge a reasonable rate per song. 99 cents a song and 12 dollars for a downloadable album is too much.

as for you tube....the one thing i really liked about it was the days where you could pull up old stuff like old snl clips...or old shows that you can't really buy/not sold.

now, the question is 'will viacom give in? or keep fighting?'

i think that viacom will continue fighting, but eventually they will wind up making some sort of a deal with gtube.
