WooCommerce is very slow

I've heard so many people rave about WooCommerce, but I'm really struggling with it.

I’m on a 2-core, 4GB VPS from Linode, and after installing WordPress, the site loads way faster than my previous 1-core, 4GB VPS. But once I added WooCommerce, the loading speed dropped significantly. It takes 3-5 seconds just to open a menu in the WordPress admin, and it’s really affecting my experience.

I also rcvd a message from linode:

Your Linode, ubuntu-us-lax-4G, has exceeded the notification threshold (180) for CPU Usage by averaging 231.1% for the last 2 hours.

Has anyone else faced this issue?

Also, my 2-core, 4GB VPS costs $24 a month, while Shopify is only $39.
At this point, I'm not sure what the real benefits of WooCommerce are.
Any thoughts?

There might be some coding issues. How many products you have in your WooCommerce site?

It should load faster on your cloud, if not there is some issue.

Some plugins might be using the CPU extensively. Bring it down. Reboot your server, it should solve the issue.

You just add a fresh version of WooCommerce and your start become very slow?
I suspect a site conflict (theme < plugin or plugin < plugin).

Have you tried to deactivate WooCommerce? Same result?

No.
I bought a theme from themeforest,
when i install the theme, WooCommerce was installed automatically.

Have you tried clearing the cache? It used to happen to me and sometimes it was solved with that

I solved it, It's caused by the theme.

Glad that you solved your problem, because Woocommerce itself can be pretty fast...or pretty slow, it will depend on external factors, like your theme (in this case) or plugins

Awesome. Isolating the themes, plugins, etc can help resolve majority of the problems encountered on wordpress

Also, optimize your images, if you haven't. Ecom websites are heavy on high quality images that slows down the loading speed.

I use woocommerce and have been since 2011. It IS slow. Unless you have the right resources.

You need page caching, php caching, sql database caching and truly, you need a dedicated server to run woocommerce, and any open source ecom software efficiently.

Most of all Woocommerce is database heavy. It can make many requests to the database for one product view. If your database isn’t cached then it is slow.

Here’s my set up for Wordpress + woocommerce + elementor that results in under 1 second page loads:

Dedicated server, Wordops, flying press plugin, redis database caching opcache.php php caching

All of this is FREE except the dedicated server, and flying press plugin.

If you don’t want to learn how to use Linux and optimize your websites, then pay for an e-commerce solution like Shopify. Or hire a Linux system administrator. There is no reason to whine and cry about your lack of skills

Based on my experience, the best performance cache is LS cache(if you use LSWS/OLSWS as webserver), the second is W3 Total cache(nginx or apache).

Only if you want your customers to have issues checking out. This solution is not optimized for woocommerce.

Woocommerce relies on individual cookies and sessions for cart and checkout. These solutions will freeze everyone by caching session cookies and pages as one.

Go and use Shopify, I recommend only if you know and understand how to navigate through

do you know private cache or you can also setup cache expct cart sessions and checkout? it can fix cart and checkout issues.

Also weird to bring up magento when these solutions you mentioned don’t exist for magento. Also outdated for community version. Very poor CMS for ecom. Surprised you make money at all. So slow. Unless you pay a lot of money for the managed and updated version.
