[Journey] from $0 to $12k/m on YouTube shorts

I will be recording my YouTube shorts journey here. Not my first shorts channel but this one was created close to 3 weeks ago. Current stats will be in the screenshots. Brand new channel, warmed up for 3 days, the first video started getting views on the first day, so I'm pretty lucky with that.

I was posting 1 video a day right from the start and I made 7 videos ahead of schedule although I've already posted all of them. Videos take anywhere from 2 to 3 hours to make so if I want to go ahead of schedule again it won't be too hard.

This isn't my first shorts channel though, the first was in the cats niche but I was stuck in the 10k views jail after getting a clip finder so I could focus on my upwork job. Had to fire the clipper so I could move to this new niche. They weren't really enthusiastic about it since it was just a friend that needed the money.

My highest viewed video is at 17k, I already have materials for the next 7 videos but I'm just procrastinating working on them. I haven't missed a day of upload unintentionally though.


I'm available to answer your questions, but let me go ahead and say that I won't be doing any blackhat method.

The new channel is in the facts niche but with a twist.

I'm coming from the SEO industry and I've already tried a journey here for my tools website, but after Google mutilated my website I had to abandoned it and the industry, fingers crossed that doesn't happen here.

Facts niche (fun facts) but with a twist. I get ideas from ChatGPT but it takes a while to find good ideas

Good luck with your journey, I tried a facts niche too but the channel got shadow banned and I never crossed the 500 views, I switched the niche and I'm doing good, I wish the best of luck to both of us.

Btw, do you hire an editor or you edit yourself ? you mentioned only a clipper who find clips for you ? right ?

I edit myself. I also find clips myself. I had a clipper for my previous channel that was stuck in 10k/15k jail (a friend that needed the money). Best of luck.

Nothing much has really happened on the channel. I tried following a trend but YouTube still didn't let me out of the 10k view jail.

Last week, I posted 4 videos within 2 days, and they performed well; I tried it again, but it didn't work out well. 1 video is still stuck at 1k views after 24 hours, when they usually get to 7-12k, another video is in 2k.

I skipped posting yesterday though, will post later today.

Some stats below. I must be doing something right because I gained more than 100+ subscribers in the last 4/5 days since I started this journey thread.

The most recent video is 49 seconds long with an 80% VVSA, still at 2k views. I actually wasn't expecting the video to do well (have such a high AVD). I made it about 2 weeks ago and left it private because I was doubting it's potential. It's a nice surprise.

I do the video editing myself. Topics are from AI though, and script too, but I edit the script afterwards.

Adsense is my primary monetization plan. But depending on how things go I might start looking for a music deal.

What has worked for me on another channel is skipping some days whenever I get 0 views on a video.

But the way I started this current channel was by scheduling videos ahead of time so that if I get stuck in 0 views I can just move on to a new channel instead of wasting time on a dead one.
