A direct link is better. If you just link to your sub, user will have a hard time finding your post, unless the sub is created for several posts.

If the question is what exactly they won't block you for, they can do both. Nothing depends on the format of the link in this case, as you are linking to the internal page of reddit, not taking users outside the site.

I am also thinking of hosting a giveaway in my subreddit. To celebrate a member count milestone. Is there things I should take into consideration when doing this? And has anyone done this previously with good results?
