Link building for anime website

Hi guys I saw lots of anime website they are using edu links for their website edu comment links

I think they are spammy but still their website is ranking good and getting a huge traffic

What i have observed is the have 60% edu comment backlinks or other profile links from spammy sites each comment page cantain above thousands of links on the other hand they are getting guest post from the website like 10 alternative website like gogoanime etc

I think the quailty of these guest post is hiding the spammy of edu links but the edu links are helping tham to index their series because the cant send indexing request directly from google search cansole

if anyone have experience in this let me know your opinion should i use nly profile edu gov and free guest post to rank my website or i should follow the same my competitor footprints of backlinks

the traffic is not from there it is from organic search but the boost and authorty is from those links
