Why Use Dedicated Mobile Proxies Instead of Shared Ones?

The seller of a shared mobile proxy says: "CGNAT is when a cellular network shares the same IPV4 address between multiple users. This is done to minimize the effect of IPV4 shortage, among other reasons. Online companies won't block these since blocking a single IP can block an entire section of a major city. And since multiple real users are also using the same IP as you, it makes it much harder to detect automated activity as your threads are blending between many regular users."

These are my thoughts as well. So with this, why use a dedicated mobile proxy when you can use a shared one for half the price? Does a dedicated one somehow make it to where you are the only one with a particular IP at a time? If so, what's the benefit to that over shared if the IP can't be banned anyway?

I know not to use shared residential/datacenter proxies, but why not use shared mobile proxies since dedicated mobile ones also have other users on the same IP?

It doesn't mean an ip can't be banned. If the website wants to ban it they will.

Problem is some ip-s are abused massively, so shared ones ain't always great.

A dedicated one that's never been used your gaurenteed to have limited issues on the use.

But with mobile, it's all the same as shared since the IP is shared with all users on a cell tower, no? And with mobile, you can't find one that's never been used, no? Is the cell tower only allowing you alone to connect to that IP and refusing anyone else connecting? Not being a smarty-pants, just asking. Thanks.

I'll think I'll let someone more experienced answer that one. I have some experience but... there's more guys here expert on that

No, incorrect. The IP is dedicated to you and only you. After you release it, someone else uses it, and you get another IP that you are the solely user for it.
So:
Mobile IP - you're the only user when you get it. It's not shared among other users, when you're using it.
Shared IP - you're getting same IP that others are using it at the same time.

It doesn't mean an ip can't be banned. If the website wants to ban it they will.

It's not a ban per se. It's more of a flag, a shadowban, because they restrict you to do what you've been doing for abusing the network, but lately, they will uplift the ban, that's how mobile networks work. There are tho on some 3rd world countries, perma ban, but it's very infrequently happening.
 
Dedicated is just better if its either never been used or never been caught to be a proxy IP. Shared might be cheaper but again, have to trust someone hasnt used the IPs to do something they shouldnt.
 
Is it rational that two people from different devices and same ip log in to PayPal?
I think this is where shared is suspicious.

depends on the work usage you are doing , if you are spamming high then many ips would be banned , most workspaces use dedicated ips for trust factor .
 
Yes if you're doing anything where IP quality matters you'll want dedicated. You don't want to risk someone using the same IP at the same time

So then what's the benefit of mobile proxies if you are indeed only issued one IP which is the only IP actively assigned to one person (you) at one time? How are you blending in with everyone else on the cell tower if everyone is only getting one IP? Even if the IPs are recycled and rotated, you can do that just the same with dedicated residential proxies, no?

Also, at ANY time, is a cell tower EVER allowing 2 or more people to use the same IP address? Or does everyone always get their own IP address, dedicated, from a cell tower?

This is overthinking. You don't need to blend, you need to signal that you're using a mobile IP, doesn't matter how many people are having different IPs on the same tower. What's that has to do with anything? You can have a tower near a hypermarket, or train station or stadium etc.

By default, everyone has its own dedicated mobile IP, in 90%+ of the cases, but in 3rd world countries where the networks are oversaturated, you can get shared mobile IP. On BHW marketplace I think 99,99% have dedicated mobile IPs (mobile proxies sellers).

BTW, residential proxies have residential IPs that they DON'T come through cell towers they come from static servers and social networks take that in consideration as well!

Shared mobile proxies are cheaper and can work well because CGNAT hides activity among many users. However, dedicated mobile proxies give you more control since you’re the only one using the connection. This lowers the risk of being affected by others’ actions and offers a more stable connection.

If you’re doing low-risk tasks, shared proxies might be fine. But for more sensitive or high-volume work, dedicated proxies are safer and more reliable.
 
On a shared proxy you're literally sharing your IP address with multiple other people using it for purposes requiring a proxy (potentially hitting rate limits / spam filters / being flagged by sites.)

On a dedicated proxy, if you're sharing your IP (can vary by network and proxy provider) you'll more than likely only be sharing it with genuine 'normal' users of the mobile network.

Shared proxies can work however for higher value work dedicated proxies are normally worth the extra cost.

Not entirely sure I got your question, but what matters with a cell tower is its geolocation and how that matches the geo of the persona you’re mimicking for your social media account. Never haven’t heard of any automatic bans for this. But keep in mind, ban systems rely on a bunch of factors. Each factor either raises or lowers your "suspiciousness score" in the eyes of their machine-learning models, which often decide if you get banned.

Not at all. We all scroll through Instagram on our phones connected to home WiFi (residential IPs), and that’s totally normal behavior.

Or not? And it won't matter if the residential IP has a 100 fraud/spam score? Not being sarcastic, just wondering if this is doable.

The transition to residential proxies in the described case itself will not lead to problems. However, if the proxies are already compromised, you will naturally face bans. The presence of mobile proxies in an account's history is not a safeguard against bans :) Connecting through suspicious IPs can ruin carefully farmed accounts.

Regarding the cost of mobile proxies -- there are various options available. Also, keep in mind the unlimited rotation capabilities. Thanks to IP rotation, you can manage a couple of dozen accounts with a single proxy access. The workflow can look like this: [work in account 1] -> [IP rotation] -> [work in account 2] -> [IP rotation] -> ...

I was just about to ask about this, as proxy experts here say good things about mobile proxies, but since they require to reboot the device (correct?) to change proxy, isn't that making it hard and cumbersome to work on several profiles in antidetect browsers as comparison to having static IPv4 ips per profile?

And a follow-up question:
I am specifically looking for a solution for this that I can share with my VAs, but I can't wrap my head around how this would work for them, as what happens if they all try to connect via this mobile proxy at the same time? Wouldn't they cause some collision or same IP bans?
I asked Smart Proxy support about their Mobile Proxies, and they claim that all antidetect profiles will get their own IP if using 1 of their plans... :confused:

Mobile proxies work by routing your internet traffic through a mobile device (e.g., a phone) with a SIM card. Each time the SIM card reconnects to a mobile tower, the mobile IP is rotated. This reconnection can be triggered by turning the phone off and on OR simply switching airplane mode on and off quickly.
However, it’s important to note that this restart/airplane mode switch applies to the device that provides the mobile proxy, not to the antidetect browser or laptop you are working from.

As a mobile proxy user, you receive a list of IP rotation methods from your proxy provider. For example, in our case, there are several options: rotation every X minutes, manual rotation via a button, API link rotation, etc.

From a practical standpoint, it may be more convenient to work in a "1 antidetect profile - 1 proxy" format. However, in this case, you must ensure that the proxy IPs are of really high quality, which can be quite expensive. That’s why, in most real-world scenarios, users prefer mobile IP rotation instead.

If multiple antidetect browser profiles are connected to the same proxy access and simultaneously perform activities on the same website, the site will "see" that different "people" are active from the same IP. This will result in all these "people" being flagged as suspicious by the site, which could lead to a ban.
