This is a small, month-long journey to create 30 quality instagram accounts to have on hand for scraping and other things. I've been meaning to focus on and automate this process for months but it always gets sidelined for other more important projects, so I'm making it a public journey.

To start with I have a dozen browser profiles prepared and I'll continue to create new ones throughout the month. With them I'll collect cookies, create email addresses, and then create instagram accounts. I might throw in a few purchased accounts as well to see how they do.

I plan to automate as much of the warmup process as possible using python Playwright and Patchright, along with Ollama and ChatGPT for biographical details and search suggestions. Currently I have a few isolated scripts but no system to pull it together. I'd also like to move the profile data from json files and spreadsheets into a proper database.

As of December 31st I have 12 profiles started, 8 with emails already created, 0 with Instagrams. I'm not sure how often I'll update but I'm hoping this thread will keep me focused and accountable.

Plan for day 1
  • create a new profile
  • log on with some of the existing profiles
  • create 1 instagram account on an existing profile
  • work on a script to launch specific chrome profiles

Automating the process and building a proper system will definitely pay off in the long run. Starting with 12 profiles and scaling up sounds manageable. Keep us updated on how the scripts and warmup process go—curious to see how effective your automation turns out!

This is a brilliant approach to building and managing accounts systematically. Warming them up and automating parts of the process will pay off in the long run. I’m curious to see how the purchased accounts compare to the ones you create yourself, especially regarding stability and longevity.

Good luck with your journey, I hope you can succeed in your idea and make a bigger one in February

Thanks all!

Yeah, I was thinking once I had it automated enough I could 2-4x it in February but I don't need that many accounts. There's costs with scaling up, more proxies and computer space. I might continue at a slower pace until I know how long the first wave of accounts lasts.

UPDATE 1

Scripting

I've done some work on my main cookie collecting script
  • connect to the correct proxy - DONE
  • launch the profile - DONE
  • go to google and perform a search - DONE
  • click through to 2-5 results and scroll
  • deal with popups and error handling
  • optionally visit other sites directly, scroll and click
  • record the visited urls
  • close the browser and rotate the proxy IP - DONE
I suspect dealing with all the newsletter popups will be a headache but we'll see. When this script is done I'll work on one that launches the profile, goes to instagram, then scrolls and likes a few random posts.

Another thing I need to work out is sourcing unique photos for profiles and to post, to make the profile look more real to a casual observer. Right now I use a mix of random altered selfies, stock photos, and personal photos but I'd like a consistent, automated source.

I'm a little ahead with profiles, emails, and instagrams. I set up all 7 profiles I'll need for the coming week yesterday. Everything's gone well so far, no blocks or anything, but it's early days.

Plan for week 2
  • build a real database to keep track of everyone
  • create 7 new emails
  • create 7 new instagram accounts
  • log on with existing profiles to search and visit sites
  • continue working on script to automate searches
  • log on with existing instagrams to follow and like

UPDATE 1.5

Scripting

The good news is I got my googling script mostly done and working. The bad news is the automation isn't as undetectable as I need. For most sites everything works perfectly, but for the big ones like Gmail and Instagram there's something about the browser launch process that makes them suspicious even though the existing cookies and storage are there.

Main cookie collecting script
  • connect to the correct proxy and launch the profile - DONE
  • go to google and perform a search - DONE
  • click through to 2-5 results and scroll - DONE
  • deal with popups and error handling - PARTLY DONE, needs more testing
  • optionally visit other sites directly, scroll and click - PARTLY DONE, needs more testing
  • record the visited urls - DONE
  • close the browser and rotate the proxy IP - DONE
That script will be useful as a SERP scraper at least but not for creating a strong browser profile for accounts. I'll have to either do some work with javascript or use an anti-detect browser if I want less hassle.

I've also finished a script for launching chrome profiles to be controlled manually without Playwright. This ensures that I always launch the correct account and connect to the same proxy each time.

Database

I got a lot done on this. Set up a Postgresql database and populated it with my existing accounts. I have basic functions for adding and editing entries and am thinking of making a simple gui control panel to keep track of the profiles and launch them.

Next is to decide how to store automated session info such as sites visited (currently this is going to csv), for my hypothetical future automation.

Accounts

Account creation is going well but is more manual work than I'd like. I have one yahoo email that wants me to verify by phone, I think in future I'll stick to gmail only with maybe a few outlook addresses thrown in for fun. In addition to Instagram accounts I've also created Reddit accounts on some of the profiles, a few Pinterest accounts, and one X account. I figure it can't hurt to have them if I need them later for anything.

Good luck. I have something similar but with mobile phones, nevertheless it's lots of fun. Keep us posted with the progress!

Thanks! I'd love to graduate to using phones more, that'd be even better.

i am currently working on instagram now. sending 200+ mass dm with one account and yet not getting ban but just a warning. i created a new account without even warning it up and scraped 2000 followers with it at the end get a security warning not a ban.

what does this tell you? it means, do to the account what you want the system to understand that the account work for. period.

dont stress your self buying old account for automation.

Do you have any experience with it?
Not with automating phones, no. Though I am using adb to rotate IPs on one of my phones.

Yep. That's a big reason I'm starting these on the type of machine I'll continue to run them on for scraping.

UPDATE 2.0

Scripting & Database

Not much has been done since Friday's update above. I've been reading up on javascript and webpage locators. Also thinking about about how deep I want to go into faking mouse movements, etc.

All profiles needed for this month are set up. From now on I'll be creating profiles at a rate of 3 per week for use in February. Since I'll mostly be using accounts for scraping and not dming or reposting I doubt my replacement rate will be high.

I lost one Instagram account, they wanted phone verification. It's the only profile I've used a proton email to register with in this batch. In the past I've lost two other proton-based Instagram accounts for no reason as well. Gave it a try one last time with a new set-up but that was a waste; I let this one go without appealing.

Plan for Week 3

  • add a sessions table to my database for visited urls and future urls
  • develop new script to automate searches
  • design workflow for choosing and storing pictures for each account
  • create 8 emails and 8 instagrams
  • log on to search, scroll, and like with existing profiles and instagrams

someone just created 20 instagram accounts in just two days, i dont know how he does it but i can automate mass dm with them 10-20 messages per 1 and this account can still login like normal account from my code
