Can't create TikTok account

Hi everyone,

I’m facing an issue with creating a TikTok account on my old Xiaomi Android device running LineageOS 20 Android 13. I’m located in Texas, USA, and I have a verified US Play Store account. Here’s what’s happening:

1. With SIM & 4G/WiFi:
   • In TikTok App at phone sign up - phone prefix is correctly set to the US.
   • When I try to create an account using my email, I get the error: "Maximum number of attempts reached. Try again later."
2. Without SIM, Only WiFi:
   • In TikTok App at phone sign up - The phone prefix defaults to +44 (UK).
   • The same email error appears: "Maximum number of attempts reached. Try again later."
3. With VPN (UK, Public VPN), No SIM:
   • I can successfully create an account.

It seems TikTok thinks I’m in the UK, but I’m in the US. My GPS doesn’t work on this phone either.

Any ideas on how I can create a US TikTok account? What could be causing TikTok to think I’m in the UK?

Hi, could you clarify what you meant by 'first get rid of that'? Is there a specific issue with using LineageOS?

The reason I chose LineageOS is that it performs better compared to the stock ROM, it’s faster. If you have any specific suggestions for a better ROM or reasons why LineageOS might not be ideal, I’d appreciate your input.

From custom roms my people are using, Lineage OS was always problematic nad 0 views.
Of course it's not only issue, but before future tests you need to go for stock OS I think.
From cutom roms, only Graphene is ok but it's not for Xiaomis.
TikTok don't like root and custom roms.

Thanks for your detailed response, I really appreciate it! Before I go through the struggle of reinstalling the stock ROM, is there any way to address the issues you mentioned while staying on LineageOS? For example, do you know of any specific tweaks or configurations that might make it work?

Try use Android, not custom ROM (like LineageOS) bruh.
