You need to check the other aspect as well: backlink quality, relevancy, authority, etc.

I am not sure if it matters in 2025, but I do check the spam score before adding a new backlink to my site. I believe the spam score is due to the site's past suspicious activity. I do not like receiving link juice from such sites. Yes, there are still those who argue that link Juice is a myth.

Spam score is just another third-party metric, like DR and DA, and it can differ between tools. It's not something you should overly concern yourself with, as it doesn't necessarily represent the true quality or value of a site.

I pay attention to spam score, but always analyze it in conjunction with many other metrics.

Not per se. It could be correct but that’s probably not the best indicator to look for anyway. To be honest as long as I don’t see a spammy website history (web archive is freaking awesome for this), I consider the domain to be viable. You never know what will be a hit. If you saw a great domain and didn’t register just because it had some stupid metric, you probably are missing out on great potential projects.

If you are getting a domain for the reg price and you think it can be a good one, go for it by all means. Don’t worry about metrics and bla. At the worst you are losing $10 (or even less if you get a discount). Two packs of cigarettes cost more than that.

What these spam score calculators score, could be very well different from what google scores. i have taken them with a pinch of salt.
