why is it so difficult to get? getting one for a canadian corporation that's over a year old and it's not already there, then after the online application they're asking for more info than filing taxes! holy sh1t.

Yes, It happens. That's how DNUS works! Need to provide the necessary documents to get the DUNS Number and complete phone call verification.
