Foundry has returned 8.18 BTC transaction fee

There was a news where a person by mistake sent 8 BTC as fees for a transaction. Now the new update is that mining company has refunded the fees.

I'm guessing the guy who lost the 8 BTC probably contacted them directly, then Foundry asked him/her to process another transaction of an exact amount coming from that same address to prove his identity.
