Wikipedia is #1 source of reputation if you have a page for your business there (which is completely unlikely you will be able to make it happen, unless is large and well-known, and always at best for a specific locale)
Link by themselves, have a good authority and occasionally they bring traffic to your site. They are not necessarily the best, but even being nofollow they have proven to be worthy enough.

Because a lot of people trust wikipedia and because it ranks in the top positions for a lot of stuff that people are looking to learn about.

A link posted on Wikipedia to an illegitimate site won't last very long. The thousands of 'good samaritan' editors will kill it immediately. So naturally a link that sticks on several Wikipedia pages is going to give the impression that the destination site is legitimate or reputable, at least in some regard.

Maybe because google also use Wikipedia data to show easy info.
SO they think that what's there is always verified and not spam.

I agree with you.
If you have a serious project, you can buy some links from Wiki, but in general you can manage without them, because they don't give link juice to your site (it's nofollow links).

I used to build them till a few years ago and never found them to be really good. Like personally I believe they are overrated.
