Starting on LinkedIn to get 500 connections

I am new to LinkedIn and I think it has a lot of promise. You can republish your content there and get follow links. In order to boost my account I am follow-for-following anyone. On LinkedIn it seems to be a 'connections' feature.
So I just went and 'connect' request with all the suggestions that came up. 95% of the suggested people are Indian IT students in India. They are my target because the other 5% are like white 'CEO' 'founder' (frauds) who would definitely reject the connection.

So far I ran into my weekly connect limit and I've got 5 Indians that accepted my connection.

Possible but requires a lot more effort. I'd need to start private messaging better connections that arean't Indian IT students. Not sure if its worth. Maybe I will engage on comments of other people posts instead.

Keep it this way, just send more and more requests. For few months i have more than 3k connections. But ln is totally trash and toxic network.
