Hi, can anyone tell me if posting shorts along with long videos can hurt my channel? For example, if I post more shorts than long videos, like 2 shorts per day and 1 long video every 2 days, will it lower my channel's average watch time? Would this affect my channel's growth? Some gurus say we need to post both to grow the channel. I’d appreciate your opinion on this. Thank you!

@YoutubeScientist I have a 20 year old Google/Gmail account, with a YouTube channel I made for it in 2013 by accident, which has 0 videos posted and 0 subscribers etc. Does that 12 year old YouTube account still count as an aged account if it has never posted a video or made a YT comment etc?

Cool that I found your thread today! So, I’m thinking about starting a company here in my country that buys monetized YouTube channels. Do you think it’s still worth it? There are channels being sold for a few bucks here with high RPMs, and a lot of them are dark content that can run without showing your face. I’d love to know your opinion if it’s still a good idea.
I'd also like to hear (or in our case, read) if you live totally off YouTube or if you focus on something else.

starting with a completly new yt channel or buying an old (it was not in the same niche) but with views and old videos , which is better ? what do you prefer to work with

Literally zero (0) "suggested videos" impressions since November 23rd and with the exception of a few videos that still get search traffic my videos are only show to subs now (97%). The channel is still monetized and has never been demonetized, I have received no warnings or strikes, and have not deleted or privated any videos. I have repeatedly contacted YT support and have been told the same template about how "the channel is working as intended". Obviously this is some type of shadow ban, my question is: is the channel fucked forever or is there a usual timeline these shadow bans take?

What is your niche? How often do you upload? That looks like a massive shadowban, the channel looks dead.

Does not make much of a difference aside from the fact that PC gives you a lot more options on the desktop version of YouTube studio, which makes uploading, editing and managing tasks much easier.
Selling products outside of YouTube. Here are some points to remember:
1. Adding product links to your video description may work but also be wary of the fact that YouTube can sometimes limit the reach of your video due to people spamming product and affiliate links in their descriptions often. This is fine if your channel is producing high quality content while talking about the product and then letting users visit the link by the end of the video. But If the sole purpose of your video is to redirect users off the platform, that's where you’ll face penalizations. This is already mentioned in Youtube’s guidelines.
So it may be a good idea to build some authority to your channel first, so YouTube “trusts” your channel. Once you’ve gained some trust and authority you can start placing links. But remember that your traffic can get taken away again if you start spamming right after you’ve built authority. Their systems are fully AI based and it’s hard to trick it.
2. Remember that as long as you’re doing HQ content and following whitehat methods, adding links to your description is less likely to cause problems.
3. Now given that you’re doing HQ content, a much safer way to start out would be by adding links to your about page, for example: a link to your shopping website. The reason it is much safer to start out this way is because links in the video description can sometimes lead to false flagging by the algorithm, and this is not necessarily because your links are spammy or problematic, but because the system maybe more sensitive to this due to the recent surge in affiliate spam links after the public release of YouTube shorts. So adding a link to your about page significantly reduces any reach limitations.
Several people on reddit, blackhatworld and other forums have reported coincidental drops in reach on their channels when links were added. So that is a fair correlation because these patterns were consistent across time.
4. Now that you’ve understood the basics about adding links, we can move on to an example of how you can make money with products and without youtube ads.
So let's say you are a channel that creates attractive videos like satisfying ASMR slime. Such content has huge reach because the general public watches it. Now you can make slime related videos that are good to watch, including shorts (faster reach), and add a link to your shopping website on the about page.
Now you can contact Chinese sellers who sell unbranded products (like slime and toys), and they can do the rebranding for you. You can create a dropshipping website or have your own inventory purchased first and list them on your website as products.
Now if your channel gets high reach, it will lead to conversions.

2. It can hurt:
If your channel is not already getting very high views and if your views threshold per day is low, and let's say you’re getting the majority of views on your long form videos, now if you start uploading shorts and they explode, it’ll start taking away traffic from your long form videos. So if you’re already having low views and are earning money from long form videos, then uploading shorts will only hurt, as it’ll take away existing traffic from your long form videos, consequently reducing earnings.

Posting both is a good idea, as shorts can help with faster growth and building authority, while long form can help you earn some quick bucks. But note that this strategy is only effective if your long form and shorts content are related. If they are unrelated, this strategy is less likely to be effective.

Yes it still counts as an aged account. It does not matter if it is a gmail account or channel. What we usually call an aged account is fundamentally the gmail account itself. YouTube is the secondary object that comes after its parent container: the gmail account.
MCN networks have business relationships with youtube. This means you'll get a higher baseline trust than with AdSense channels, and bypass the traditional "sandbox" or "testing phase". So your channel can start out with higher recommendations.
Looks like a shadowban to me as you may have suspected. I'd suggest trying a new channel on a new IP address, phone number and AdSense account. We don’t know what the exact cause here is. If they have flagged you for spam or blackhat activity, then operating a new channel within an isolated environment like a VPS server is a sure fire way to rule out any potential limitations imposed upon you.
It’s also possible that your trend died, or your channel may be experiencing a temporary cycle or hold by the moderators at youtube. It’s possible that your niche is very saturated with a lot of new channels being mass created by competitors stealing a large portion of views, thereby leaving less room for other channels (traffic).
You can also try resting the channel for 3 to 6 months without doing anything and come back. Sometimes resting the channel for 3 to 6 months can reset the shadowban,

you said in another comment that you uploaded 10 videos in channel a and 10 videos in channel b which resulted in one of these channels being terminated. they didn't terminate both channels?
the general policy is that they terminate all channels owned by the same party, so that would mean all channels that they can connect to the same person, you lost any other channels attached to the adsense account?
the method of deleting channels and trying with other new channels sounds good but you may end up with stolen videos before you delete your channel with no reference to claim copyright if someone uploads it before you reupload it again onto a new channel

My method of uploading to 10 different channels is not the same as you may have thought.
I wouldn't upload to channel 2 without first deleting those videos from channel 1.
Obviously if you upload multiple exact duplicate videos from channel 1 to channel 2 or from channel 9 to channel 10, without first deleting those videos from the previous channels, you will get terminated for spam.
So if I'm uploading the same video to 10 different channels, it would happen in serial order where the videos will only uploaded to the next after being first deleted from the previous.

I delete all videos and the channel.
All the channels are on separate ips and devices like virtual machines, emulators or VPSes.
It may not be necessary to delete the channel though, as long as you delete the content.
