I am over the moon. My business is developing and maintaining bespoke web scraping bots. My first client pays me for leads. I generate hundreds of thousands a day, almost every American business and professional is in my database. My second and third clients pay me for a daily upload of ecommerce prices. Everything is 100% automated. I can go for months without needing to make any interventions. I even have a full time day job on the side, although I suspect that layoffs and/or salary cuts are on the way. In a way I'm hoping it happens so I can quit and focus on my tech business full time. My overheads come to around $200 a month so the profit is around $1,000 monthly.
I managed to pick up the clients on upwork. I am hoping I can hit a tipping point and really start to scale things up. I think that $10,000 is possible. There are online markets for data which I am not able to get into. I am kind of torn between going "legit" and start taking business of the big data companies, or staying in the shadows and writing youtube view bots or selling dubious gmail accounts. I could probably do this if paid to do so. (The sort of thing you see advertised on these forums). It is kind of difficult to move forward when I have another full time job.
I am thinking of buying half a dozen domain names, setting up half a dozen landing pages for each domain name and market myself in multiple ways to see which method (if any) takes off. Anyone know of anyone who did this?
My biggest problem is that I have zero sense of marketing or social media. For privacy reasons I have never ever had a social media account. I don't allow myself to be photographed. As a result I have never learned how these sites work. I know they are important and I know I am likely leaving a big pot of money on the table but I just can't do it. I have no design or artistic skills either. I think that at some point in the near future I need to advertise for a joint venture and split the profit with a partner.
