bump. i have been poking around this platform since the election when the most recent twitter exodus started. initial thoughts...
pros:
- email verification only on bsky.app
- open-source projects are plentiful
- firehose api
- "starter packs" of users that may aid in targeting
- blocks are public, meaning you can see how blocked your accounts are and know when it's time to burn them
cons:
- demographic is.. how to word this within bhw rules: hyperpartisan democrats/liberals (though, frankly, that is a pro if you know how to work them w.r.t campaigns!!)
- userbase is very mute/ban-happy! the ban lists, nuclear block, etc may be problematic
- userbase is still relatively small (26.3m as of this post)
campaigns i have seen thus far:
- very low-effort adult accounts driving traffic to chaturbate
- crypto scams and p&d
- trading gurus (forex, etc) peddling bs
- unmonetized news reposting, esp. crypto/stocks-related
the userbase is hostile to crypto. gambling probably won't be much better. adult seems better, likely worth a try.. it's adult after all. honestly: were i to fuck around on bsky, i think i would try more mainstream campaigns. especially related to politics.
plenty of bsky resources here:

i imagine many twitter methods are worth trying over on this platform. i wonder how many regular, real twitters have no idea about bsky.. aka clone their accounts to warm things up before it's time to monetize
saw ppl trying to reserve names.. ya, here's the bsky api endpoint if you want to write a name checker:
Code:
https://public.api.bsky.app/xrpc/com.atproto.identity.resolveHandle?handle=USERNAME.bsky.social
think i'll run some tests, figure out rate limits etc. seems relatively wide-open atm. early days.
i'm also curious about running a server or w/e they call it. this is decentralized, federated social media. if you ran your own shit can you still reach everyone? would it be easier to run game, no/better rates etc? one downside i can think of for that approach is all your accounts can be nuked at once. or could you just play whack-a-mole? need to research more...
cheers BHW & have a great weekend.
ps: why the hell did they call their version of a "tweet" a "skeet"? that shit's funny... skeet skeet, please convert and beat your meat
