Currently, I am facing challenges with the rankings of my service pages, despite successfully ranking for highly competitive keywords through blog content. Interestingly, my competitors' homepages are now appearing within the first three pages of search results, even though they lack dedicated service content.

I am considering redirecting my service pages to the homepage but am concerned about the potential impact this might have on my primary service-related keywords. Could you provide guidance on whether this strategy would be beneficial or potentially harmful to my rankings?

Perhaps you could try optimizing the service page content or internal links instead of direct redirects.

this is usually a case of either authority, or topical authority. Meaning.... your site's DA / DR is low (well, lower than your competitors') and / or your site covers more (and different) topics than your competitors so they beat you with better topical authority.

You'll have to check these 2 things and fix accordingly if these are the problem.

Another problem might be the lack of content which service-based pages usually have. So, if the authority and topical authority are fine but the content is the problem (ie. your competitors have more and / or better content on their homepages than you have on your Services pages) you obviously need to catch up on this...

Something else I can think of could be the internal links (and overall site structure in general). A well optimized, well structured site with great technical SEO and other crap that google loves (schema markup for example) and with good internal linking will go a long way towards ranking...

Like the previous member said, redirecting the Services page to the homepage would not be a good idea. Try to figure out why you're not ranking and work on fixing that instead of unnecessarily 301-ing stuff around.... Also check if the canonicals are set correctly, sometimes these tags do mess things around...

Redirecting your service pages to the homepage might help with general authority but could hurt your rankings for specific service keywords. It’s better to focus on improving your service pages with stronger content, targeted links, and better internal connections to the homepage.

Redirecting service pages to the homepage may not be the best choice, as you may lose rankings for specific keywords. It is better to optimize your service pages, making them more complete and useful, and focus on creating relevant backlinks to increase their visibility.

I agree with this. Internal linking is very important in order to squeeze out the maximum juice out of the OP's website.

It would be safer to focus on optimizing your homepage for service-related keywords and strengthening the internal linking structure.
