Why Doesn’t PBN Get the Same Love as Guest Posts? Let’s Talk!

Hey folks,

Quick question that’s been bugging me for a while:
Why does everyone seem to have more respect for Guest Posts than PBNs?
Both can work wonders for SEO, but for some reason, PBNs always get the "bad boy" image while Guest Posts get the VIP treatment.
Am I missing something, or is there something about PBNs that the SEO community just can’t forgive?

Most probably this,
It's due to the overall users having terrible experiences due to the scammers selling overpriced trash links mainly from link farms,
The majority of the PBN sellers are complete scammers, they'll milk their customers while providing no value nor results,
It's a widely used scamming business model today sadly, based on misinformation & fancy terms like "High DA", "High DR", "Unique Content", etc...

Funny enough, it's almost the same with guest posts, the only difference is that they need to drive some amount of traffic to their link farms,
Probably the fact that the websites shouldn't be penalized & need a little bit more care to drive that traffic, making the clients get some minimal results,
Yet, it's still a scam, these websites will die eventually, and it's usually a matter of months before they're completely gone

PBNs are great but the majority of the people out there are not maintaining their networks to make them as good as they preach and they slowly turn into link firms. A good PBN provider needs to maintain their sites and keep them fresh and private

Spot on, I bought couple of PBNs from forum and the links didn't even rank, so there you go, better to build your own network if you want to be in game for lognterm

Interesting point! But if both Guest Posts and PBNs can be misused by scammers, is it fair to say that the platform itself isn’t the issue, but rather the quality and ethics of the provider? What’s your take on that?

non spammy pbns rock , there are some seller which are providing gem rest all are selling same domains again and again .

Aside from scammy business practices of some vendors, their bad reputation comes from how search engines treat them.

They openly stated many times they don’t like them and deindexed many public and private networks over the years.

Guest post don’t get such direct hate. They just fall into general paid link category.

Other reason is setup. Many people setup their own network ineffectively and loose faith in the strategy.

It's the quality for sure,
Any type of link could work when it has the least decent quality, and comes from a website/page with some authority,

Take blog comments, forum, sidebar/footer, etc... type of links as an example, everyone would say they're useless, spammy, worthless,
Everyone is probably referring to the spammy links created by tools like GSA, Senuke & Xrumer, built within lists of spammed websites,
If any of these links are placed on pages with low OBLs, genuine non-spammy websites, with decent authority, they'll pass link juice & you'll rank,

If you get a sidebar/footer/menu link from some website like the NY Times, you'll get a massive boost,
If you get a link from one of the comments on a similar website with a highly moderate commenting system, you'll get the boost,
If the post has a decent amount of internal/external links, you'll get more link juice, surely not as good as a contextual link, but it would still do the work

It's because PBNs are a blackhat method, which means if google finds out about them you'll get penalised.
